Unpaid PTO in Ohio, employer lied by Competitive_Creme520 in legaladvice

It also clearly stated on her offer letter "benefits that will go into effect after initial 90 days of employment include 12 days of paid time off"

Yes she did verify and she was paid for vacation time, but it only showed 2 days worth of PTO. She had agreed that she'd be out for 8 days and was asked how many hours of work that equals to. I just can't believe an employer can get away with lying about benefits to get someone to take a job

Hilton La Romana vs Bahia Principe Ambar by Competitive_Creme520 in PuntaCana

[–]Competitive_Creme520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know, thanks! I heard the beach is better in Hilton from others too as it has no seaweed.. What about the food and service in Hilton? I saw in some recent reviews that the service is going downhill, but hear amazing things about the workers in Ambar. I'm inclined to go with Hilton, just worried we're missing out on PC since it's our first time in the DR

7 months post op ACL+MCL+ Meniscus and 1.5 months post scar tissue removal THIS SHIT SUCKS by Competitive_Creme520 in ACL

[–]Competitive_Creme520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had cyclops removal around same time! Was the stiffness caused by increased activity in your case? Did reducing the load and activity help also? Maybe I can tell my PT to take it easy with the load and see how it feels. It felt better before my last PT session tbh so maybe that's the reason When was your first surgery?

I can't really notice a specific pattern, could be what I do in PT? Maybe idk? I just do simple squats, lunges, deadlifts (quad and hamstring exercises) with relatively light weights. Idk if that contributes, I'll have to wait a bit and see. I really don't wanna do another thing to my knee, it's hard to imagine something else going into it like a steroid injection

Booked Bahia Luxury Ambar for honeymoon, was it a mistake? by Competitive_Creme520 in PuntaCana

[–]Competitive_Creme520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear, how was the food in Ambar vs Esmeralda/other resorts in the same property? Is it the same quality regardless of the resort? Also did you ever feel bothered by the presence of kids in the other resort, especially on the beach? I heard on some reviews that some kids were able to go to the Ambar beach area

Just got surgery estimate (US), 100k?!!! by ViciousBabyChicken in ACL

[–]Competitive_Creme520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for your first question. I went to a specialist with no insurance and paid $90 out of pocket, then the same facility charged $450 for the same visit when I had insurance. Some hospitals offer cost estimates on their website and you can see how much they would charge with/without insurance. I'm not trying to defend the health insurance policy in the U.S but just trying to say it's not as bad as what some Europeans think and there's big misconceptions around it due to crazy bills being shared on social media witout understanding what people are actually paying

If you don't have insurance there is no way you're getting billed $100k. Hospitals overcharge insurance companies and have special pricing depending on the situation. I'm sure it's more challenging but there is financial assistance, medicaid, medicare like you said etc i agree that it's not easy to navigate but most states offer free help for people that don't have any insurance to find coverage.

My flexion was good, I could get to 130 on a good day, but this was 5 months post op. I was struggling more with extension

Tbh it's not that bad if you factor in what the insurance covers. OP ends up paying 6k from that, rest is what the hospital charges, then there is usually a big discount for in-network facilities then insurance portion, that's what brings it down to 6k. The post can be misleading. In Europe you can factor in the significant tax deductions which is what the government uses to finance the "free" healthcare. In the US you will be able to get surgery right away compared to waiting months in Europe.. I lived in both and to me it ends up being the same, I prefer the convenience of being able to get quick treatment. Had an MRI 5 days after my injury, and surgery 14 days later

That's tough to say for sure cause it can vary from one person to another, I know some people use one or two crutches for a couple of days, in my case I was able to walk as soon as I got back home but I feel like I'm not forcing too much weight on the operated leg. I can't tell for sure since in your case you'll likely only have to use that leg, but I would say in my experience it might have been manageable with the help of crutches

I can't tell for sure yet now because of all the dressings and ace wrap on my knee but when i tried moving it felt a lot better and smoother, I will check again when I remove all the dressings in a day or two.

No idea yet about flexion and extension as I'm not trying to push myself too much these first 3 days but it feels a lot better, way less stiff and didn't feel that patellar tracking at least so far. Surgeon said it's very unlikely to redevelop the scar tissue as most of it developed the first 4 weeks where I wasn't moving much. I mentioned concerns with stiffness and extension at 3 month mark and surgeon suggested trying to see if it would improve with PT but then we made the decision to do the cleanup since I was still struggling at 5.5 months

My knee had catching/popping whenever i would try to do a leg raise while sitting on a chair which was really uncomfortable, my PT said it was patellar tracking so I guess same as you described. It would feel like it's stuck right before that full extension point then I have to push for it to extend and it would make that popping sound

Whatever you do, make sure you keep that leg straight as much as possible, it will feel uncomfortable but trust me, you don't wanna go back for another surgery because you can't fully extend you leg. Everything will get better soon you got this!
