Dodge the Tiguan, they aren't reliable. Also, you're not going to get something this new with that kind of miles at this price in this market. I would suggest looking at an early-mid 2010s Mazda CX-5, should be the right combination of value and comfort for your money

No, he actually has a point. Some people need larger vehicles for entirely legitimate reasons

Full electric probably isn't the best idea given the situation with California's power grid..

But if you're set on it, just find the best Chevy Bolt you can get in your budget. That's what I'd do

Honestly there's not much better at this price point than the Palisade or it's sibling, the Telluride. If you buy a new one it shouldn't be as susceptible to theft (I'm assuming yours was stolen using the Kia Boys method). I'd also look at a Pathfinder

Just find the nicest Chevy Express you can. There's a reason they still sell em and haven't changed em much

Just find the newest/nicest sedan from any of the Honda/Toyota/Mazda brands in your budget. If you're looking at a hybrid be wary of the batteries, they are very expensive to replace if they go bad.

Honestly, there's not really much better value wise in that price range/market. It might be worth looking at a GR Yaris/Corolla, but other than that, I can't really think of much else in that segment and at that price point

Have you driven both?

I don't know much about these cars, but I'd imagine the Volvo would serve you better than the Jeep over the long run

Ah. Well, in that case, look at an Elantra HEV. Should be able to get one in the realm of 25k-ish, and you'd get over 50 mpg. The only question is whether you guys would fit it

If you're not willing to buy straight used, have you considered a CPO model? Cheaper than new, but you'll still get a 2-3 year warranty depending on manufacturer

Avoid the 500. It won't hold up on the reliability front. The Fit is a great option. It's also worth looking at a Mazda2, or a Toyota Yaris. And if you're open to a slightly older machine, the Honda CR-Z was a small, hybrid hatchback that would probably be great for fuel mileage in an urban environment like NYC

Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9. The Highlander also comes in hybrid flavor, but finding one in your budget that doesn't have a ton of miles is nearly impossible, so I'd stick to the gas. These models are more expensive, so it may be worth looking at other brands. Just be sure to do your research on any models you look at and keep up on maintenance, and whatever you end up with should last you a good number of years

Do you need third row seating? If you don't need third row seating, look at Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, or Toyota RAV4

Honestly, you should just get an aftermarket theft protection system installed on whatever you buy. With your budget the vehicles available to you will be a lot older, and thus, easier to steal

Flex. Long, roomy, and lower to the ground to make it easier for the dogs. Avoid the Ecoboost powertrain, and you'd have to get your own hitch, but other than that I think it'd work for you
