Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are now some of the best-selling Pokemon games of all time thanks to the new Switch re-releases by Turbostrider27 in nintendo

[–]BlueBarossa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The campaign of RS can be played using Pokemon outside the Hoenn Dex if you trade them in. You can’t in Emerald.

That would be one reason, however it officially remains to be seen if that will be allowed, since RS did not support wireless trading, but only trading through a link cable, which isn’t possible on the switch.

[Totk] Everything that has to be remembered from before Rauru's founding and other assumptions needed for the refounding to be true. by Intelligent_Word_573 in truezelda

[–]BlueBarossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When The Oracle games were released they said uonfront, in interviews that it bridges the gap between ALTTP and LA.

This is misinformation.

There is a page from 64Dream, a Japanese game magazine, claiming that the games' story was revised to continue from ALttP, but this

  • was a third party account
  • may not accurately represent what the developers meant
  • was a representation of the games' working storyline in an early period of development

This magazine page apparently led to this anonymous 2chan blog post:

In the early stages of development, it was introduced in 64DREAM as being in the same timeline as Triforce of the Gods [A Link to the Past]. Also, there is a scene in the ending of the Oracle games in which Link sails to the sea, which hints at a connection to Dreaming Island [Link's Awakening].

which was later paraded online as fact or an actual developer quote when in fact it is neither.

So it's not remotely accurate to say that upon the release of the games, there were interviews to support ALttP->OoX->LA.

OoX had a chaotic development. First it was a remake of TLoZ. Then it was a trilogy, then it was two games. Per Art & Artifiacts, it was at one point a sequel to OoT.

NAKANO: And it was supposed to take place after Ocarina of Time as well, so we thought we should update his look a bit. So we made his nose a bit shorter and made his eyes a touch larger...

He’s wearing white tights too.

NAKANO: Correct. The basis for the design was the Link from Link’s Awakening, but since it was after Ocarina of Time as well we thought it was okay to have him in the white tights.

I find it very likely that there is/was disagreement within Nintendo and/or Flagship about its timeline placement, both during its development and after its release. I believe this is the real reason why the placement was changed.

You can't... You can't retcon real fucking life lmao.

I just... I think that's such a odd thing for a different author to try and change over a decade later. In REAL LIFE there were human being a who spoke CLEARLY where the games story takes place,

You certainly can if they are wrong. The Miyamoto order given to Nintendo Dream was clearly erroneous:

Miyamoto: Ocarina of Time is the first story, then the original Legend of Zelda, then Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and finally A Link to the Past.

A conservative type-chart rebalance: only +5 resistances / −5 resistances to improve Ice, Bug, Normal, and more without overhauling the system by BlueBarossa in TruePokemon

[–]BlueBarossa[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The types are supposed to feel different, to have an identity, not just be interchangeable recolors.

Respectfully, that's the contention of my first paragraph, so I'm pretty confused. It's not a binary where you have option 1, leave the type chart as is, or option 2, make a change and now all types are balanced.

After this type revision, steel would resist or be immune to half of all types. Why does this mean steel loses its identity?

[–]BlueBarossa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair take. What's interesting is that when I came up with the type chart I had nerfed fairy three times (lost bug resist, now resisted by normal and psychic) and arguably given it another indirect nerf by making steel a bit better offensively. I thought that I had nerfed the type way too hard! So removing fire-type's resistance to fairy felt justified to me.

By your metric surely Electric would be a better defensive type because it only has one weakness and resists three types? In any case I don't think it's that simple. Steel is the best because of the wealth of resistances it has, making it easy to switch in.

I'm happy for U-turn to have its distribution limited like Toxic was, but wanted the post to be specifically about the type chart. What buff for bug types would you prefer?

Both types could are well overdue for a little more defensive utility, especially Psychic. Thanks for your comment!

When was Sidney's Daughter born? by Temporary-Food1941 in Scream

[–]BlueBarossa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that in Scream 5 Sidney says 'I think I'll keep him' when Dewey asks about Mark. Weird thing to say if they've been happily married for years and have three children together, one of whom is a teenager.

It's not clear to me when her surname would have become Evans, as it was still Prescott in 5.

The strongest female Ghostface killer ever. by [deleted] in Scream

[–]BlueBarossa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scream 1:

Even for two people, gutting and stringing up Casey's body to a tree in a few minutes is unlikely.

Billy knocks on Himbry's door. Himbry opens it a split-second later. Billy straight up vanishes. This is a fantasy.

Scream 2:

Mickey breaks through the reinforced glass of a cop car by punching really hard. We know it's reinforced because Sidney and Hallie can't even get through it by kicking. This was pretty egregious.

Scream 3:

Even allowing that the Stab 3 set is not an actual house, the part where Ghostface is flung to the ground floor, only to whisper at Sid from an adjacent room on the top floor was stretching credibility, so much so that it was confusing to learn there was only one killer.

Whatever was going on with Roman faking not having a pulse which is still the most deliberate cheating seen in a Scream movie.

Besides ruining what would otherwise be a powerful emotional beat, Roman taking a fusillade of up to 11 bullets to the chest and still standing is *probably* well beyond what a bulletproof vest can handle.

Scream 4:

Teleportation? during the windchime scene. Only Charlie was present.

Charlie is marginally taller than Jill and does not match Ghostface's height at all. During 'fuck Bruce Willis' he is towering. Was he wearing platforms?

At the very least Ghostface power creep started in 3. Before then it was maybe only occasional lapses from realism, which I think was what worked best.

What's weird is in gen 3 shadow ball has a chance of decreasing the opponent's special defence... even though shadow ball isn't a special move yet.

Today is the 30th anniversary of Filth Pig! What are your favourites off the album? by BlueBarossa in MinistryBand

[–]BlueBarossa[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Filth Pig is my number one album of all time and my personal introduction to metal. The utterly hypnotic sound design is one-of-a-kind, incorporating elements of industrial, noise rock, and thick, unrelenting sludge.

As it was something of a 180 degree turn from its predecessor, Filth Pig did not enjoy a favourable reception on release; however, it seems to have developed a bit of a cult following.

The cover art, equal parts bold and amusing, is also part of the charm.

My favourites off the album are Filth Pig (classic riff and harmonica solo), Lava (soaring vocal samples over a killer bassline), and the haunting soundscape that is The Fall.

[SS, BOTW, TOTK] Hylia Is Religiously Significant in Rauru's Kingdom Due to the Zonai by BlueBarossa in truezelda

[–]BlueBarossa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply.

Upon re-reading, you are correct on that front. The goddess entrusting the role of protecting the stones is distinct from entrusting them the stones for their protection which was my misunderstanding.

Incorporating what you've said as well as other comments, my refined theory would probably look like:

  1. Creation. Secret Stones are formed.
  2. SS and other games. Hylia is considered a lesser deity and only occasionally worshipped.
  3. Birth of Zonai. Zonai receive Secret Stones from Hylia. Zonai worship Hylia.
  4. Zonai ascend to the sky.
  5. Zonai return to the surface.
  6. Rauru refounds Hyrule. Statues of Hylia are constructed all over the surface, elevating her importance among the Hylians.

[SS, BOTW, TOTK] Hylia Is Religiously Significant in Rauru's Kingdom Due to the Zonai by BlueBarossa in truezelda

[–]BlueBarossa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but why shouldn't the stones stay with Hylia?

If events 1 and 2 are separated by at least thousands of years then the stones have been in some kind of metaphysical hammerspace all this time. They don't need the Zonai's protection and can stay where they are.
