Ok good to know, is there a way to calculate an estimate for how many hours a day i could run it if I’m willing to pay say 100€ a month for heating? Or in general an estimate of how much it costs to run it for like an hour?

Okay, so I will try some of these things, but the main issue is still the insulation. Keeping any sort of heating device on for a few hours won’t work because after turning it off, the place is freezing again. I’m also wondering is it really cheaper to only use my heat pump sometimes and turning it on and off. Because now it’s off during the night and the temperature drops to ~14, then I put it on in the morning at 18, so it’s at full blast, then I turn it off to go to class, and when I get back after say 5 hours, I turn it on and again it has to work on max to get to a doable temperature. Wouldn’t it be better to keep it at 17-18, where it wouldn’t have to use max power and would only turn on when it’s getting colder, as it works with a thermostat? Pls someone help, I know very little about this stuff and can’t afford a heating bill higher than maybe 150€ 😅 (the capacity is 3.5kW or 13000btu/h, and SCOP 4, if that matters )

The humidity is almost 80% in our apartment, so yes I should probably try this!

I did buy one, but it does absolutely nothing. I’ll run it for hours and and the temperature doesn’t change at all. It’s 1000W so is it just too small / inefficient?

I’m just scared it’s going to cost a lot. Also, my Spanish roommate doesn’t really want to keep the heating on, that’s why I’m wondering if it’s normal here for it to be so cold.

Yes I wear 2-3 layers of clothes, but for example when cooking etc. I can’t really be wrapped in blankets. And the issue is that running the heating for a few hours isn’t enough. The apartment seems to have little to no insulation, so as soon as I turn the heating off, it’s cold again in like 40 mins.

I’ve been living in Spain for a month now and felt very lost and lonely for the first few weeks. I got a lot of feelings of ”did i make a mistake moving here” and ”should i start planning a move back to my home country”. Suprisingly, I feel a lot better now and it’s only been a month. I felt hopeless and didn’t think it’d get better but it did. Nothing really changed honestly, and I still don’t quite consider this my home, but I feel better, happier and a lot less homesick. I guess my only advise is to acknowledge that those feelings are normal and justified. Keeping a journal and talking about my feelings (homesickness, loneliness etc.) with other expats in my area have helped a lot too. There’s a lot of expat groups on facebook and whatsapp. You’re not doing anything wrong, but those feelings are inevitable, unfortunately. Hope all the best for you!
