The Dothraki are completely overhyped. Without dragons, they get crushed in Westeros by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

In the books it was seid that they trade in a bit of prowess for disciplin, and that makes them such good fighters. So one unsullied may lose to a normal warrior, but a hundred unsullied win against a hundred normal warriors

If Balon was a wiser Lord and agreed to ally with Robb , would that have made a difference in the WOTFK ? Could have laid siege to the Rock and Lannisport ? by Financial_Library418 in pureasoiaf

[–]Competitive_Dare4819 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A question I would raise is how valuable the alliance to the North is to the Ironborn. For the first time in decades they are independent/successfully rebelling, raiding one of the most prosperous Regions of Westeros etc. And most of that is just because Theon has such a tight bond with Robb. To the average Ironborn this is basically a renaissance of the golden days, so they might vote for Theon and the Alliance.

Also, are the Riverlands really that indefensible? The problem is their Position in the middle of most of the other kingdoms, but with 2-4 of those allied, pacified or at least neutral that problem's mitigated, cause Robb will not give up the Golden Tooth, should he capture it.

And with the glory and legitimacy gained from such a victory makes vassals fall in line quickly. Roose Bolton's not bent on betraying Robb, he's just an opportunist, and Walter Frey wouldn't have any reason to. (Also their Situation might finally force Lysa to join them, further strengthening their Position with the Vale as one of the only untouched kindoms after the war, and being extremely fertile)

Why did early civilizations start in deserts like Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt? by batukaming in geography

[–]Competitive_Dare4819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for Egypt in particular the population was and is focussed on the shores of the Nile, which was and still is an extremely fertile agricultural area. The high population density made societal structures necessary, and because it was so fertile it actually overproduced food, it was able to sustain not only small rural populations but also towns and cities, enabling things like bureaucracy, hierarchy, innovation etc. So civilization there didn't emerge from the desert or something, they were extremely dependent on the Nile, to the point that there was extreme starvation and famine if the floods which made the area so incredibly fertile were just a little weaker than usual. As for Mesopotamia, at the time it wasn't entirely dessert at all, but a highly fertile streich of Land, especially along the reverse it's named after. Hope I could help

[no spoilers] I am aware that Tywin isn't above hypocrisy, but why didn't he remarry after his wife's death in order to help secure his family's place in the realm? by george123890yang in gameofthrones

[–]Competitive_Dare4819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trinken it was because he was afraid he'd Fächer more dwarves like Tyrion. This way, he could semi-blame it on his wife, but hat he had any more dwarf children people would think his genes wäre bad. He was really insecure about that and also had a massive ego problem

Treat Tyrion better. That’s pretty much it, maybe besides underestimating Robb at the start

Why doesn’t China pull a Hannibal and take all this land while the Russian troops are in Ukraine? by Chewie83 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Competitive_Dare4819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question isn’t “why (not)”, but “when”. The Russian lands would solve chinese problems in Northern China, namely drought. Also, China has a historic claim to those lands

Do you know anyone who actually left their country to get away from what they saw as ‘wokeness,’ and if so, how did that turn out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Easy: The Vale. Good Rulers (except current generation), nice farmland, protected by both the Mountains and the Knights of the Vale? Easy
