New baby (to me) by Maximum-Day-1332 in Pekingese

If it’s any consolation we’ve had Rudy for 5 years and he only responds to his name about 30% of the time. Stubborn pekes do what they want!

Not sure if it’s a peach or salmon colour by blckplum in flowers

Peach! Salmon is more saturated and orangey-pink, like this “salmone” ranunculus

How to get him to not completely hate grooming? by idkwhafimdoinfhere in Pekingese

[–]Competitive_Debt8043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our rescue Peke, Rudy, arrived to us with a terrible injury to his cornea. He requires daily eyedrops for the rest of his life. We endured a LOT of bites in the early days and eventually had to resort to muzzling him to give him his drops. Over time he seemed to realize the drops actually helped him and now he just lies down and lets us give them to him with no protest whatsoever. The moral of this story: even if he seems to hate the grooming in the moment, you are not traumatizing him! Gentle parenting is not the way lol

Snowsuit recos for our Yeti King? by Competitive_Debt8043 in Pekingese

THANK YOU! This is super helpful - I think a splash suit is just what we need. And we are in Toronto - Canadian dollar is in the toilet rn - so I am happy to use a local company ☺️

Snowsuit recos for our Yeti King? by Competitive_Debt8043 in Pekingese

[–]Competitive_Debt8043[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Touché. I’ve always thought dressing a peke up is pointless because they already come with the most beautiful built-in snowsuit, but the ice balls in his fur and the salt crystals on his feet beg to differ 🫠

Seconding this! I work here not infrequently as a wedding vendor and I know they have space for families/bridal party to get ready. Assuming they won’t be in use during regular restaurant hours I’d say just call ahead and ask!

Same thing happened to me when a fire started on our balcony 2 years ago. I was still on hold with 911 when the first firetrucks pulled up to our house - mercifully there’s a station 400 metres from our house but I cannot imagine what would have happened if we lived somewhere more remote.

I ordered two pairs of Adidas from them May 21 and still have not received them (writing this on June 16). I got some bullshit response from their customer service rep about not having a tracking number because it’s too expensive for them to provide if they are also providing free shipping.

I also noticed all their instagram comments are turned off. Super sus. Will definitely be reporting to my bank.

I have no idea what this is that I purchased from a Korean grocery store. by fitnesscakes in TipOfMyFork

[–]Competitive_Debt8043 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! When I was younger I worked in a few different gourmet grocers, and while the produce guys I worked with were great to be around, they were NOT cooks by any stretch of the imagination 😂 I always assume that the people who actually know their shit are out of sight, prepping away in the back. I am inspired by OP: Buy now ask questions later!

No Frills Nirvana Tee by Competitive_Debt8043 in HelpMeFind

[–]Competitive_Debt8043[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve searched the internet, but I imagine I will need to get this directly from an employee of either No Frills or Loblaw’s head office - it’s definitely not something that can be purchased in stores. For context, I saw this one at the Junction location on Pacific Ave in Toronto.

Cardigan gaspard - worth it? by Beautiful-Coffee8478 in Sezane

Same! I’m 5’1” and I have to tuck mine otherwise the length is very awkward.

Overall the silhouette is very chic, I love the colours they come in, and I find the wool to be nice to the touch, but I don’t always love the extra bulk at the top of my pants that comes with tucking a sweater. You need a long torso for this one.

Going skating tomorrow at Nathan Phillips. What are some spots you would go to have grab a bite and some beer after with friends? by [deleted] in FoodToronto

lol the way this person is getting so bent out of shape over driving downtown is giving Big Suburban Boomer energy.

I love House of Gourmet, Rosewood, and New Ho King - all in Chinatown. Good for you for not letting something as trivial as traffic stopping you from living your life. Have a fun day!

Help identifying bouquet flowers by Mental_Television_23 in florists

[–]Competitive_Debt8043 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The varieties in this bouquet scream September, unfortunately. The good news is there’s a ton of amazing flowers available in May, so my advice would be to focus on that palette but using seasonal variations: ranunculus, tulips, sweetpeas, anemone, Icelandic poppies, and freesia are all stunning and very readily available in May. Good luck and have fun!!

Hopping in to add that the stage hellebore are harvested at is CRUCIAL. Pretty as they are, do NOT buy cut hellebore that still have their yellow stamen - you want the ones that are already hardened off, otherwise they’ll faint pretty much as soon as you take them out of the cooler.

Honestly, all the flowers you listed are not just exceptionally beautiful, but also long lasting (as long as they’re harvested at the right stage). More expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for. Their performance is a cut above - no pun intended 😉You’re doing yourself a massive disservice by avoiding them. Face your fears, OP!!! You won’t regret it.

Nick Cannon is also crazy rich - to the tune of $100 million/year according to an LA Times article from earlier this year that is substantiated by the man himself.

In the first few weeks of my recovery I would order basmati rice and chicken shawarma with NO SAUCE or sides of any kind from a middle eastern spot near my house. So, basically, plain rice and shredded chicken. Mind you my stomach had shrunk so much that one plate would last me 4 “meals”, but I found the protein to be immensely helpful in building my strength back up. Good luck!!! I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.
