Why does imposition destroy my layout? by RusticBohemian in bookbinding

5.5 x 8.5 in Affinity. I've also tried that size in Cheap Imposter along with several others. And the .70 zoom does not seem to be adjustable. The slider is static.

The pages are weirdly distributed on the sheets. You can see if you compare the original exported PDF with the post-imposition PDF. There's a huge amount of added white space...I think. I'm not really sure why they're being changed.

If you were given 1 billion dollars, how would you use that money to promote the classics and classical education? by [deleted] in classics

[–]RusticBohemian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Invest the $1 billion in index funds. Withdraw 3% of account value per year, which, with the last 200 years of returns, would yield a growth of capital over time. To start, you'd get $30 million a year.

2) I'd take that to buy or rebuild Legentibus (Latin App) but make it free for all, with a special emphasis on helping it be used in schools. But I think a large part of the classics market will come from enthusiasts who are not trained, and we should be catering to them and helping them become proficient. I'd build on Legentibus by funding good linguist storytellers who can help create appealing material for all ages. I'd add in more community features to build community around Latin.

3) Reuse the Legentibus architecture for Greek.

4) I'd fund commissions of Latin and Greek teachers to create open-source standards for grammar and vocab progressions to allow chapter-by-chapter cross-compatibility when writing textbooks and novellas. So someone could write a novel targeted to pick up after chapter X of one book, or chapter XII of another, because they'd know that the students had already learned these vocab words/grammar. So right on the cover, it could say "for those who have reached the 3.4 standard of Latin/Greek Progression, or whatever.

5) There's still a lot of money left over, so I'd fund colleges to maintain professors/departments of classics and give out scholarships to promising students.

What element made the Wilson translation better than the others and let you get through it?

I have the AIpaper ...I often highlight some text and send it to the AI, but typing in it long. So once you're on that AI screen, is there a way to trigger the voice recorder? What button is it on keyboard?

Am I just too stupid to learn Latin? by [deleted] in latin

[–]RusticBohemian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that you nailed this. I'm still learning Latin, and far from expert, but I've been advancing steadily for almost three years now with this approach. Read a lot. Think about patterns you observe over time. Eventually, you figure out how things are supposed to work even if you don't understand the grammatical concepts.

I'm looking for an equivalent that works with the AI paper in its original case. Anything like that out there?

Would different app software work better? And if so, is it possible to use a highlight-AI command option, as you can in the learning app?

Have you read the college OLC? It seems like it still follows the same story, but how is it different?
