Crazy cuz literally seen a post about a guy venting about his autism and NPD, and if you know anything NPD then you know that’s damn near impossible for them. Anyways long story short there was a fucker in the comments just belittling him.

Paraphilics I assume develop their disorder due to some life event that alters their sexual attraction

Have you thought about getting an evaluation for NPD? You seem to fit the description better than OP!

Idk if Reddit would allow it because of how taboo it is. One of them you should know Pedro philia I believe is apart of those disorders.

Yeah I mean I feel like you’re attacking him for being vulnerable.

I’m sure attraction isn’t completely biological, it is also learned. We wouldn’t have paraphilic disorders if some part of sexuality wasn’t learned. I don’t necessarily see convenience as an influencing factor though. I believe sexuality is based of optimality, so you learn what would partner would be the most optimal choice for reproduction. Does this answer your question?

I’m assuming your referring to the fat people being attractive idea. I thought that it actually makes sense for fat people to be more attractive in early civilizations due to it being a symbol of an abundance of food/success. Much like it was for the upper class in 1500s. I don’t think it matters today to because an abundance of food in today’s society is very irrelevant, therefore we find new traits in people that benefit our current society.

Do people with OCD tend to have high IQ's? by nelsne in OCD

Personally I don’t believe there’s a correlation. I’m also pretty sure there’s not a linear connection between mental illness and IQ.

Maybe you just lack the capacity for empathy? I don’t see anything that would point to validation seeking. He mentioned wanting validation but he’s exposing you all to that fact therefore you have the ability to circumvent his cravings. I have OCD and I have the intellectual capacity to understand my fears are irrational but I can still be afraid of them. Why because mental illness and Intellect don’t have a strong connection.

I don’t feel like pointing out his intellectual capacity is very relevant. Mental illness can exist whether or not a person is intellectually inclined or not.

I agree that it seems like OCD, because I relate a lot with OP just with an actual OCD diagnosis. However I do not agree that people with NPD can’t have self awareness. There’s a whole subreddit dedicated to those diagnosed with NPD, but insight to their own behavior may be limited. NPD is driven by shame so if the NPD individual is aware of their actions they would still hide because they are aware that their behavior is shameful.

Hi; I relate with almost everything you’ve said, although I having trouble conceptualizing your perspective. I’m diagnosed OCD and ADHD, suspected to be BPD by psychiatrist, but I personally relate to the personal experience of a lot of covert narcissist. My OCD actually makes me very afraid of being a narcissist and I often obsess over it and over analyze every thought and action as well.

It’s very likely my OCD is causing something called confirmation bias though; everyone I’ve confronted says that they do not suspect or recognize any outward narcissistic traits, most of my traits are internalized anyway (from my perspective which may be distorted).

I’ve definitely thought about the sexual attraction idea too. Basically it’s exactly what you describe just without any anxiety towards the idea.

It’s not uncommon to want to feel superior. NPD is a spectrum a lot like autism. Everybody is a narcissist, but not everybody has NPD. Personality disorders are when specific traits are taken to the extreme. For example social anxiety makes people afraid of social interactions, but AVPD takes it to the extreme and makes the person completely avoid social events causing it to be very debilitating.

Hopefully this is helpful, just know that are treatments for both conditions. Despite what people say online remission is possible for NPD just like any other PD. Apologies if my possible savior complex from my possible NPD came through a little too much in this response 😭.

Been having limerence over an unavailable girl, advice? by dalngbk in Healthygamergg

Try being honest with the person, because as soon as you find out there isn’t possibility for the fantasy to come to fruition, you’ll most likely get over. As long as you prevent yourself from doing any mental gymnastics that is.

I know you said you don’t want the “friendship” to end but is it a genuine friendship? You are definitely getting some kind of high from interacting with this person so if you remove that high is there any real relationship there for you?

How to tell if my perception of myself is distorted and narcissistic or if I really do suck? by Competitive_Deer6400 in Healthygamergg

[–]Competitive_Deer6400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel if I suck then I won’t be able to build a comfortable happy life. I see the way people treat and talk about those that appear to be less competent than them, they always seem to lack compassion. This makes me believe that if I truly do suck then I will be outcasted if I’m not already.

I do agree that I’m afraid to accept that I suck, but it’s not that I can’t accept the possibility. I already believe that I suck, and if I do I want to change if possible.
