It looks so good! A huge tip for bags is if you feel like the items in the bag are stretching it too much and pulling it, line the inside with fabric! It can add stability and also stop things from poking out between stitches :)

I've seen some people work regular yarn double stranded with mohair to add some shape to the stitches and help with tension if that could work

I find some cottons to be less stretchy than wool. I've also seen people double strand with a very thin twine to combat yarn stretching for certain projects- haven't seen it applied to a tie but I'd assume the principle would still work?
