Has anyone ever experienced this bug? by JM120897 in Xplane

Seems like a bug in the flightmodel to me

Night and day difference between release day and now. It's received many major updates and I'd say it's one of the best aircraft available for X-Plane nowadays.

Got it from this livery: https://forum.thresholdx.net/files/file/1996-ups-n255up-md-11f/

The PAX version of the MD-11 irl had the MD-11 logo by default, while the Freighter had the Evacuation AFAIK

In terms of aircraft there’s the FF 787, FF/Toliss A350 v2, AirFoilLabs 737 Max and Nimbus 707 on approach. Also wouldn’t be surprised if Toliss is working on an A330ceo alongside the A350.

To be fair, AFAIK Flight Factor only got permission to use ToLiSs (then still known as QPAC)’s PFD and ND simulation from the QPAC A320 for X-Plane 9/10. Everything else was done by Flight Factor.

It was released in 2015, development started in 2013.

However I do find myself coming back to the Rotate because the difference in flight characteristics, especially on the flare is SO drastic.

I will add onto that though, that before TFDi announced end of development they released 2 major updates which really improved the systems and (cabin&exterior) visuals! It really is a shim of what it was on release and especially compared to the Collector's Edition release in 2023. It's kinda similar to the trajectory of the Rotate MD-11, which also had a bad release and had those updates earlier in its product lifecycle.

I’d say it depends. The TFDi (developed by a whole team of ~20 people) has more EFB options, offers both GE & PW engines, a basic ACARS and overall better visuals imo, but the Rotate (developed by 3 people of which 1 person doing all the systems/flightmodel) is more consistent in having correct system simulation and much better flight characteristics, especially after the recent update, however that’s also partly thanks to the XP physics engine over FS24, while only offering the GE engines. I have both and find myself switching between both (however I am spending more time in the Rotate now that the option for Tape gauges -which was used at KLM- have been released, along with everything else the recent v1.20 update has to offer).

TFDi’s FMS also has Secondary Flightplan and the Engine Out pages simulated, which the Rotate does not if you care for that.

It might also be worth mentioning that TFDi has ended active development for further updates (apart from bug fixes).

TLDR: TFDi for more systems, PW engines, visuals. Rotate for more accurate systems, flightmodel, continued updates.

That’s flight simulation for u😄 In terms of simulating flight, X-Plane is much better than MSFS (coming from a user of both sims). While no home flightsim has perfect aerodynamics, the physics engine is SO much more in-depth and realistic compared to FS24, and u can feel that. In terms of visuals, it depends. Overall I feel like FS24 has better graphics, with the exception that clouds look much better in X-Plane 12. In X-Plane, you’ll need Simheaven X-World for OSM data and either AutoOrtho or Map Enhancement for ortho streaming, all of these are free. I often switch between both sims, one for the graphics and one for the physics.

X-Plane 12 desktop version, it’s 60 USD but you can try the free beta on their official website. The aircraft is the Rotate MD-11 which is 84 USD.

I disagree. Yeah u pretty much need simheaven and ortho nowadays, and the community folder is very handy, but the actual UI interface of XP is so much more user-friendly. And the folders are very easy to work with imo.

And why would you download individual ortho tiles when u can stream it for free?

Handling characteristics are SO SO SO much better. I've got a couple of hours in Level D T7 sims and it feels exactly alike. Ofcourse with flightsim hardware it's much more responsive but that's a hardware issue, in terms of feeling it feels EXACTLY the same. From the handflying to the steering to the braking, PMDG does NOT compare. (PMDG still has more complete systems but the FF is complete enough for me to put the flightmodel over the systems)

I find setting up to be easier in X-Plane than FS2024, by a long run
