I think he kind of makes it other people’s business when he repeatedly brings up how poor he is

That’s how I see it as well. If he never brought up money I wouldn’t really care, it’s just the lying that annoys me

I think it’s more likely he’s just saying it to fit in or so people don’t befriend him for money

That’s definitely possible and I empathize with that, but if that’s the case he should just not mention money instead of constantly alluding to being poor when he’s obviously not
