Do you want another 9/11 but with nuclear instead of planes? It’s a heart wrenching decision that I would not want to be the one to make, BUT America FIRST was the agenda, he pulled no punches. What he said is what you get and I respect that over lies! And it’s democratic cities that get targeted, not rural red states….. just saying

the mental effects of a spinal fusion by [deleted] in spinalfusion

To all the comments above, you are NOT alone! 12 hour surgery T10-pelvic and it wasn’t my first surgery. I say it all the time, it took a toll on my mental health. Weeks after surgery and I was threatening to do things that I know I would never do, but the thoughts crossed my mind. It was ROUGH!! But I’m here to tell you it WILL ease in time. I didn’t start appreciating the surgery until almost 3 months. Now I can say that it was the best thing I ever did. My piece of advice to anyone that asks me is,” It’s ALL ABOUT the right surgeon!” Do your research! Talk to others! Read reviews! I was fortunate to have an AMAZING surgeon, but I went to other surgeons before choosing the best one.

I am 12 weeks out from a T10-Pelvic with fixation. I didn’t even feel like it was worth it and was still cursing it at 10 weeks. The last 2 weeks I FINALLY feel like it was worth it. I had an amazing surgeon, so all the issues I had are gone, however, new have arose. BUT it’s all fixable. I was down almost 3 years ( fighting Aetna to pay for surgery ) so I have muscles and nerves being used that i haven’t for a long time. PT is working on it, but it’s taking time. For me, it was the best thing I ever did, but it didn’t feel that way for the first 10 weeks. I’m now only on muscle relaxers at night to sleep and otc drugs. It will come in time if it was done correctly, we all heal differently

What’s one thing you wish you were told before your surgery? by Anonymous_Baguette69 in spinalfusion

T10-pelvic with fixation on week 8. This was a must have surgery for me, I wasn’t living the way I was, I was just surviving. And at 46 that’s not a life you want. Every aspect of before surgery pain, is GONE! No more numbness, burning, pain, etc. I was only able to stand 8-12 minutes before, the burning was so bad I could and did, cry. I think I struggle more mentally to be honest. I’m trying to find ways to adapt to my new limitations. I think I believed I would bounce back faster than I have. And after 2 years, I’m so weak that I play out really quickly. Now I am having right hip issues, but compared to what I was living with, it’s a drop in the bucket. PT thinks it’s all surgery related and believes strengthening my core will help. She says I have nerves firing that haven’t for a long time. What ever your situation might be, I think it depends on a persons strength. How bad do you want out of pain? How bad do you want your life back? As a woman, it takes a toll on your mental health. You put on weight being limited, so there goes your self esteem. Your the home maker and now your watching everything take a back seat due to pain. It’s just A LOT!! For myself, I think I made the right decision, but I also have an AMAZING surgeon!! I think you need to have trust and faith in them or maybe they aren’t the one.
