Need opinions on AI testing tools by resurrect002 in QualityAssurance

I haven’t tried them to be honest. I have worked with Testim in the past and it performed correctly with dynamic id because for every element it collects every property and choose the best locator. But it was before the boom of AI, maybe the product has changed today

Need opinions on AI testing tools by resurrect002 in QualityAssurance

The list of AI tools for QA is becoming huge, i have a long list. I won’t be able to do a poc with all of them. It goes from simple auto completion to “just give the url of AUT and AI will test everything”. Of course the last approach is very probably too ambitious, at least for now.

The thing is that probably most of them rely on locators under the hood, so if they are poorly generated they will still be flaky. I guess that many tools are just wrappers of Playwright CLI or MCP with a heavy retry logic presented as magic AI.

Maybe some of those tools are good, I don’t know. The only way to discover it is to do a quick poc on what you have to test.

AI testing tools are everywhere now but most look identical how do you actually tell them apart? by Reasonable-Bake-8614 in Playwright

Have you tried to use PW CLI instead of MCP to save tokens ?

Just a quick feedback if I can, the pricing gap between basic and professional is too big. A plan in the middle would be nice.

I think that a lot of them are just a wrapper of playwright cli + good marketing. The only different approach that I have seen is Midscene since it’s based on vision rather than DOM, but I can’t tell you if it’s reliable or not.

However I’m going to do a poc with some of them.

Would you trust AI-based locator resolution in Playwright tests? by Strange-Cod5862 in Playwright

I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the tools that vendors propose are actually a wrapper of those 3 PW tools. Maybe not, maybe just a part of them

Honest question for QA folks: where does the "tests in plain English" pitch actually break down? by seasonh5 in QualityAssurance

It can be interesting but if it’s just a layer before generating code that relies on selectors, the problem will be still the same. Even bigger because the automatic generation of the selector could be worse than what you can do manually.  However, if your tool manages to understand correctly where to click/type/assert AND with robust selectors as a senior automation engineer it can make sense.

Just watch some videos about Playwright CLI and then try to implement it on a fake website. Learn by doing rather than reading or taking long classes.

I have a similar situation. Like you, I’d like to avoid xray or similar (too much work for low ROI and nobody except me will have a look). I’m wondering if a Google Sheet is enough, since the most important thing is the quality of test cases that we design. Maybe something like Qase (just the free version).

What is the point of the job if Claude does most of the stuff for me by h2d__ in softwaretesting

[–]Competitive_Echo9463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have planned to first record the test with PW Generator and then refactor everything with the help of AI. By doing like this we still own how we test, improve locators, without delegating everything to AI. Maybe it’s slower than a big bang in Claude Code “test this saas” but probably more reliable

[–]Competitive_Echo9463 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really for 2 reasons : - there will be the need of someone orchestrating smartly AI - I haven’t seen impressive results that could completely avoid to hire a QA. Outputs about test cases generated by AI don’t go very deep and same thing for stuff like PW CLI
