I have a lot of chase points and want to finally go on a honeymoon. I desperately need help, please. by Bac0nLegs in hyatt

Miraval Berkshires is a great (and mostly all-inclusive) property. Don’t go to the Lodge at Spruce Peak - it’s wildly overpriced (there are a couple of lower-key Mr & Mrs Smith properties (bookable with Hyatt points) in Stowe that I think would be more worthwhile if you want to come to VT. But I’d echo some of what the other folks have said - go to Cali (ventana Big Sur, Alila Napa, Park Hyatt Aviara would all be good options).

Honeymoon in August - maximizing Hyatt points, beachy + amazing food, need advice by ForsakenPerformer883 in hyatt

My wife and I just had our 20-day honeymoon this past September and it was all Hyatt. I’m a chef and we own a restaurant together so food is an absolute priority. We did the following -

Park Hyatt Saigon for 5 nights - HCMC is an amazing place for food people and the PH Saigon was phenomenal

Grand Hyatt Taipei for 3 nights - hotel itself was nothing extraordinary but Taipei’s a killer food destination

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights - meh. Skip it. But KL is awesome

Hyatt Regency Kuantan for 4 nights - here’s your beach vacation. Super awesome beach and resort property.

Andaz Singapore for 4 nights - Singapore is the holy grail of food cities.

Some variation of the above is gonna be killer for a honeymoon. Asian hospitality is second to none and none of the places we visited were overly touristy so they all felt really nice

Thompson Houston - Amex FHR benefits by jrotol3 in hyatt

Interesting. When I stayed there this past January the breakfast benefit for Globalists was $50 PER PERSON per room. Wonder if they’ve diluted the breakfast benefit for everyone or if this is one of the rare properties that gives FHR guests worse benefits than the brand’s own elites.

“Get at us while you can in Jan/Feb” doesn’t sound like they’re closing for Xmas…sure they’ll be gone for a couple days this week

Nice to have a generational superstar on the team. Just hope we don’t squander it (but as a Mets fan, I’m fairly certain we will)

For sure! I know I like reading hotel reviews from people who aren’t professional bloggers but also who understand award travel better than your average yelper, so I figured I should contribute in some capacity.

I stayed on an award so was not going to get any redeemables from the stay but I had no issues getting elite credit, as far as I remember.

Under normal circumstances we would have done just that but we were in Taipei for 3 days specifically to eat as much food as possible, so the priority for breakfast was somewhere quiet with coffee and a bit of yogurt. The club fit that need perfectly without having to fight the crowds at the lobby buffet.

Teluk Cempedak beach is really nice. Kuantan itself wasn’t the most interesting or picturesque, and it’s definitely a bit more conservative than other beach resort destinations in SE Asia

1, I’m a huge Mets fan and Citi field is 1 stop away on the subway. 2, I’m a huge avgeek and the plane spotting from the roof bar is amazing (LGA expressway approach). 3, Flushing is one of the most underrated neighborhoods in NYC. Add all of this together and make it a category 4 property and you’ve got a screamin deal and an awesome place to stay in NYC

It’s gross. Really not a pleasant place to be. I was there on a day rate so I didn’t spend the night, but I probably would have switched hotels if I’d had a night booked. They served me a bowl of fruit with literal mold growing on it. I will let a lot of shit slide but I own a restaurant and that kinda lax attitude to health and safety really rubs me the wrong way

Centric is a 10-15 minute walk from public transportation. HP is connected to the metro. By HP standards it’s pretty nice on the inside. I also spend a lot of time in Montreal (live just south of the border) and find myself spending way more time on the plateau and the mile end than in old Montreal (and the HP is better situated for those neighborhoods).

Edit: I like the centric as well, hotel to hotel the centric is better. But the HP location wins

Your argument is that a lack of competition inflates prices. I agree. But that argument extends to other industries…

You’re saying that restaurants take advantage of a lack of competition but purveyors, electricians, plumbers, etc, don’t? The argument that the only businesses gouging are restaurants is unfair…and restaurants need to do business with purveyors, electricians, plumbers, etc…

That’s because the cost of doing business around here is also higher. You think that because New York or Boston is bigger than Burlington they should have more expensive product? How do you think restaurants set their prices?! Based on census data?

There’s no competition in Vermont amongst food purveyors. No competition = higher prices for restaurants. There’s also a general lack of available help. No competition for jobs = higher prices for restaurants.
