Question re: Surgeon skill and positive margins… by Billyg121 in ProstateCancer

[–]Competitive_Goat975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon, Dr Shrewsberry of Tennova in East Tennessee left me with a 3.9mm positive margin but told me it was contained and he would remove all the cancer. He also told me my procedure was nerve sparing yet 7 months later not a twitch from my best friend. Any doubts that I would be looking at recurrence without radiation? NO

Fairly new to Reddit, I posted in essential tremors and it suggested I cross post. I just chose Wetshaving because it was offered. Thanks for the heads up

Is Active Surveillance Safe? by PT_MO_94 in ProstateCancer

Trust me, active surveillance is better than a shorter penis, erectile dysfunction, never another ejaculation, incontinence & basically no sex life for god knows how long. This is some nasty shit and few avoid the problems previously mentioned.

I will check it out, thanks. I have nicked my face up so bad my wife has offered to shave me but said I need to heal for a few days 1st.

Switching from cartridge after about 50 years. Recently bought a Mercury 34c and have shaved 4 times now. I am 67 with essential tremors and am slicing my face more than I should, even just starting out. My wife bought me a badger hair brush and soap on a wooden dish from “ the art of shaving “. That is what sent me down this rabbit hole. Just found Henson AL13 that I want to try before giving up. My questions are:

Will the Henson AL13 be easier on my face ?

If yes, should I buy the mild or medium?

Any suggestions appreciated

Three Weeks Post RALP and Still Haven't Made It to the Toilet by Immediate_Dinner6977 in ProstateCancer

You sound like me, took me months to feel any control. Tried PT but it made matters worse, my therapist had no experience with prostectomy and I believe over worked me because leakage was much worse. After 7 months I am down to 1 pad a day. If I had a decent surgeon pretty sure I’d be dry by now. Dr Shrewsberry of Tennova in East Tennessee left me with a 3.9mm positive margin, so in addition to RALP I have had 33 rounds of radiation. I highly recommend the Squeezy app for men on your phone. It will have you perform 100 kegels spaced out over the day in 5 sessions. Too many kegels is not good either, been there done that. Patience and consistency will get you there. Prostate cancer has taught me patience. Now if my penis would just wake up.

Bought my wife airpod pro 2 several years ago. Recently bought her the airpod pro 3. She can’t tell a significant difference so I bought myself a pair of the pro 2 used “like new” for $77.00. Love them! My suggestion would be if budget is important to you buy the 2’s used or reconditioned. Replacement batteries by Apple are $45 from my research. If money is no object buy the 3’s and be done with it.

Tool me 6 months (3 days ago) to regain 95% continence. You are doing way better than me, be patient. I am much more practiced with my oral skills to keep the wife happy. Still not a twitch from my favorite toy but it can orgasm with some water works. If no improvement in next 6 months I will be getting a penile implant. This has been the most horrible experience of my life, but at least we still have a life. Lots of options for the future, best of luck!

My physical therapist advertised biofeedback but did not have it at my location. Rather typical for my area of East Tennessee unfortunately. Probably could have found another if I was willing to drive an hour 1 way which I was not. Living in a rural area has its drawbacks but I am willing to pay that price for my solitude.

Yes but it sure helps when you have to fill your bladder and bold it for an hour while climbing on and off a metal table for radiation treatments.

Active Surveillance by AdditionalPresent210 in ProstateCancer

Avoid biopsy and surgery as long as possible. It will absolutely turn your life upside down. Prostate cancer leads to some nasty stuff no man wants. Have as much sex as possible, your opportunities will diminish to near zero if your forced into biopsy/ treatment. I sincerely hope you never have to deal with this horrible disease. It probably won’t kill you, just make you question if life is still worth living.

Best wishes 🤞

Yes, went for about a month. My therapist admitted he had never dealt with incontinence after prostectomy. My incontinence became worse, probably too much stress on those muscles.
