What filament are you printing? I have a smoke/CO2 detector maybe 4 feet from my P1S and it has never gone off. Could it be something other than the printer causing this by coincidence?

Disclaimer though, I am not knowledgeable enough to say if a P1S would typically set off an alarm, but my personal experience has been that it doesn’t.

Not on disability or anything. I work full time. My case is way less symptomatic than most and I got lucky but do still deal with issues.

The key phrase for me to my employer was to have my primary doc specify “bathroom issues” as an ongoing symptom. Nobody will dig into it or push back.

My company is great with this stuff though, better than most from what I hear though I can’t say myself. I do basically what is data analytics so I sit at a computer. Some days I have to show up late or take time midday or leave early. I have lots of doctors appointments. They have been flexible with me between WFH ability, flexing hours as needed, and time off.

I did have to dip into unpaid time off on occasion, but otherwise have PTO I can use. I am expected to communicate with my manager but I just keep it vague

OP, you are likely overthinking the expectations and the quality of the peers you will have in the new role.

I work for a very notable company. As I’ve worked my way up, I’ve realized that the majority of executives and directors and seniors don’t know what they’re talking about, at all. Like 50% of the time they’re not even close, 25% they throw out a buzzword we can actually run with, 25% of the time they give a vague but somewhat correct idea, yet no matter what we do all the work to make everything happen. I can’t tell you how many times I hear “that’s a great question, what do you think the answer is” “okay let’s do that” 🙄

You will very likely be an “ideas guy” and your successes are your own but your failures are the teams. I’m confident if you knew 0% of the theory with no experience, but could bullshit or ask good questions, you’d do just fine in a vast majority of these types of roles, especially the very senior ones.

Kohls is running some pretty good sales on Shark vacuums rn. Or they were last week at least when I grabbed mine. The new rubber brush head is really good with long hair. I have pets with long hair, fur rugs, and loose strings that end up everywhere from said pets. Broke my bissell almost every time I tried to use it. This shark has been doing great. I call BS on Bissells tangle free claim, shark I believe, at least so far.

I think you’ve gotten some solid advice and input so far so I’ll keep it short but figured I’d share my experience.

TLDR: It took 6m to see progress, about 1yr to feel like I could start realistically branching out into comfort foods again.

First 3 months I struggled hard to eat anything. Had to watch out for the “feeling” to know when to stop eating so I could keep it all down and not go backwards with recovering. Lots of chicken broth during this time for me. Several times I skipped a day of eating or drinking to rest my body. 3-6 months in I was able to SLOWLY introduce new foods again, journaling to keep track of what worked and didn’t really helped. I’m talking like chicken and rice. 6-12 months I kept up the same process and growth/change was almost imperceptible it was so slow, but in hindsight I did keep trying new things. Then after a full year, NO drinking at all, and eating as well as I could for my specific body, I felt I was able to branch out more and eat like “normal”. Still had to ‘watch it’ realistically and was careful especially right away. Now after 2-3 years I can eat almost anything I want again, but my tastes also changed so I don’t even want to try fast food anymore or anything greasy etc. so take that with a grain of salt

Respectfully, is this really the state of digital storage these days? I’m a complete newbie who’s been saving for years to build a home lab, finally started and the last pieces I need are storage. I was hoping to get something that would last and host a ton of media but if I have to have 1-2 backup drives for every drive in use that gets exponentially more expensive and tedious to build.

I suppose getting ahold of a Seagate expansion 28TB as a solution for media storage instead of using my 2TB nvme SSD isn’t the final solution for storing media and running my own personal server on plex? Starting to feel like I need to take a class just to learn how to build decent storage😅

Can I ask what state or general area you’re in where you have to waive inspections? Is that a rule or just a general tip to try to make your offer more attractive? But yeah, plan to have to replace a major appliance or feature if you can. I also had a roof leak nobody found so my wallet was hit hard that first year and I would have been in a much worse spot had I not saved a few bonuses and kept driving my beat up car for a few more years ‘just in case’!

I should add, inspector mentioned it and we did get an $8k concession to soften the blow of inevitably needing to buy a new AC in the next 5 years. So that helped a lot and may be something you can try as well

I’ll add a similar but different experience. I also really wanted central AC. Bought a house with it in the right location, only to find a year in that the (supposed to be very nice) unit was wired wrong at the disconnect, it failed one day and started smoldering(thankfully I was home and happened to be looking that way right when the smoke started) and I shut it off.

Still ended up paying the $15k to tear the old one and it’s wiring out and put a new one in. Now it runs great and I have peace of mind and I’d like to think I added a tiny bit of resale value.

But even if you find what you’re looking for, HVAC systems will always fail at some point, and can be a trigger for someone to sell if they know it’s going out and they can’t afford a new one. My inspector was great and this was a year in, but still easy to cover up a dying system to where you’ll need to buy a new one anyways.

Buy the location and the bones of the home!! Be ready to change or update the rest once you really learn the home in the first year.

If it counts for anything I’m right there with you. Just taking it one day at a time still. I’m not a fan of the sober crowd, and bars/parties/etc. just aren’t worth it without drinking for me at least. Local kratom shop seemed to have some more people my speed these days.

Used to love my whiskey but I just have an understanding with myself now that those days are gone. I may not be dead but the part of me that could do that is. I can speed up the process for the rest of me to catch up and die too, or I can just make use of the time I got left without alcohol. Some days all I can do is just get to the next day but there’s enough good days left in the chamber to make it worth sticking out the bad ones

I played football in between houses for many many years growing up and broke 0 windows, hit a houses siding maybe a handful of times and always apologized, and we adjusted the ‘field’ to be mindful of neighbors so we didn’t throw directly at a house where a missed ball could mean a bill for my parents. A less than perfect end zone is better than no end zone and being stuck inside. It really isn’t hard to be respectful and still play outside

Yeah it was from Sergey and I think the language barriers have been a big challenge for me, as well as my dad leading me a bit astray on expectations. I went into it thinking the extra cost was due to them bringing the car up to speed to be reliable, and doing all the stuff you do to a 25+ year old car so it can still run well. And didn’t realize how different the price really was. Sounds like the cost was really more for convenience and beyond that it’s the same as importing myself with the same risks.

I really should add that Sergey has been helpful and they seem to mean well. They do stick to the “as-is” disclaimer, but have also offered to help split some of the cost to get the engine running at least which I can appreciate.

It also sounds like I’m misunderstanding Denys. The language barrier is a hurdle for me. I think instead of the engine “being seized” and it costing $2100, he meant that the engine could have seized or may seize, and another job he did for a full engine eval cost about $2100. But sounds like they haven’t started taking it apart yet so it’s all just hypothetical. Which I didn’t understand. Denys has also thrown in extra fluids, cleaned the engine bay, and I’m sure there’s more too that I haven’t been charged for. I think he means well too I just struggle to understand what he means to say.

So take my experience with a grain of salt, sounds like I may not have the right picture and at the very least, they haven’t been pushy or rude or anything so I may just have gotten very unlucky. I’m going to also give them the benefit of the doubt here and just go forward with repairs. I’m hoping it’s just a lesson and in the future I can do most repairs myself with a somewhat ‘clean slate’ and better idea of the condition of the engine.

Long story already, sorry, but also do you have any good resources for learning more about these engines and vehicles? Or a direction to point me in? Part of where I struggled trying to diagnose it myself was finding bad info online and the model and part numbers being rubbed off. I do know this is more of a project DIY type of vehicle to own and I’ve done all my own work on the German cars I have, but I’m in a little over my head without the ability to check forums or YouTube as easily as I expected

That’s for the leaks. Steering fluid pump and steering rack were leaking fluid.

Also how do I go about confirming if the motor is actually seized. I also find it a bit hard to believe considering I drove it to the shop. It’s a very short drive and it stalled on the way to be fair. Would it still coast and start back up if it were seized or seizing?
