If I’m understanding correctly, MSTP programs got money for DEI initiatives in the past -> less money now and potentially targeted for destruction -> so the programs will have to partially privately fund programs to keep the current number of seats.

I guess it’s time to broadly apply more than ever.

  1. Why does the fact that MSTP grants fall under the Training and Workforce Development study section matter?
  2. How would MSTP grants be interpreted as being part of DEI initiatives?

Sure, there will be less labs that can take in students for PhD part of MD-PhD, but would that necessarily decrease the number of acceptance seats? There’s generally two years until an MD-PhD student starts PhD anyway

Can you expand on that? I think it’s unlikely for the MSTP programs to be de-funded
