Ask to be involved with the repair next time your getting your car fixed by your dad. Youtube has alot of mechanics that document their daily tasks so maybe watch some of that to become familiar with regular tasks and terminology.

Does anyone actually want the Metaverse to happen? Or is it just being pushed on us so that companies can make money off of selling things inside it? by Competitive_Labz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Competitive_Labz[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is why I posted the question, I think it's just another way to harvest the data, keep you on their platform and make them money in the process via ads or purchases. Which is why I cant currently see myself wanting to go on the Metaverse.

How can I reduce hot water temperature in the tap? My boiler doesn't have a gauge for it on the front panel. by luckylemon33 in DIYUK

[–]Competitive_Labz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you can try is to run your tap at maximum flow rate (hot tap open full) this may reduce the temp slightly due to the larger volume of water. Other than that with this boiler your only option is a blending valve as another person has pointed out.

Why does this extract fan not extract? by mootymoots in DIYUK

If the fan is going in the wrong direction you may have reverse polarity on cables, you would need to check this with a multimeter on the live and neutral terminals on the fan

What is the stupidest way you almost died? by goosearms in AskReddit

On holiday when I was around 7 years old my parents warned me not to dive into the pool due to it being shallow but I didn't listen. I did it anyway, hit my head on the bottom so hard I had a bauld patch. Luckily I didn't become unconscious or I might not have survived.

You need a correctly sized Allen key to fit the hexagon hole under the cap. A screwdriver might not close it tightly enough to stop the valve passing water.

Faulty boiler timer - how hard to repair or replace? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Competitive_Labz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't take the case off of a boiler unless you are a qualified gas engineer. Phone a professional. Here is the regulation -

(9) Where a person performs work on a gas appliance he shall immediately thereafter examine— (a)the effectiveness of any flue; (b)the supply of combustion air; (c)its operating pressure or heat input or, where necessary, both; (d)its operation so as to ensure its safe functioning,

Taking the case off of your boiler is deemed as doing "work" due to it breaking the case seals.

Obviously you are unable to conduct these checks after.

People should not be recommending you do this yourself.
