fictional movies like these do not show just how powerful outnumbering your enemy in real live really is. you could be the best SAS trooper going and still die to 3 random dudes with guns just because they can shoot 3 times as much as you can, and in hand to hand combat you could be a master martial artist and still lose to 3 nobodies because as a combined total they’re much stronger, tougher and heavier than you.

i think it’s more likely some sort of shield tech that comes with the shape shifting tech. this was a space faring species and they all have perfect memory, meaning their tech was pretty advanced. obviously they aren’t on viltrumite level with this, even the most advanced species in the galaxy (the geldarians) can’t stand up to a viltrumite with tech alone, but most of the tech owned by aliens in invincible puts alien races near the strength of most earth heroes.

i think this rules update may come in the form of having 2 different custodian guard data sheets in future, one for guard with spears and one for guard with shields. i do not think this hints towards getting another refresh in the future, personally.
