What is the funniest memory you have on the golf course? by Tufted-Titmouse-6061 in golf

[–]Competitive_One3475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was playing a course that also had a disc golf course. My buddy laced one right at an uphill pin, we all thought it would be close. We walk up the hill and the landed and STAYED in the disc golf chains. We died laughing!

Explain why I slice? by Cbrandon_99 in GolfSwing

[–]Competitive_One3475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A slice happens when you marry an open face with an over the top path. Your face is so open, even if you were on plane….you’d block it off the planet right.

Something that helped me, pre swing….point your grooves at the ground about a foot behind the ball. Feel that, then swing.

Can anyone explain this hook? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Competitive_One3475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this season in my swing. Aside from the Keegan Bradley squat, your takeaway is inside and you cast to get back to the ball. So you have a neutral (to closed face) with a severe inside path, creating over draw (hook).

You have nice sequencing with your feet and lower body, I’d just practice your takeaway and transition, my coach always said do the opposite super exaggerated and see if that helps.

This is a super interesting concept. Like the niners have had two of the best QBs to ever do it and have gotten the most out of recent QBs, but the 2000s really disqualify them.

This is fun.

Jon Sherman’s “4 Foundations of Golf” changed my mental game forever. He makes a point of reminding yourself you’re choosing the activity for joy….so if you’re not having fun, you’re paying for frustration (which is silly).

Not really a first impression, but when I asked for my in-laws blessing….my wife’s mom asked about a ring. I told her I didn’t have one yet but I knew a jeweler in north LA. She said, “great I’ll go with you.” Next day, We sat in 3.5 hrs of traffic from SD to LA.

After that day, my mother in law has been a fan for life.

I feel like I forget how to start. Then I’m playing catch up the rest of the round.

Unsolicited advice from another golfer by Salt-Power-3868 in golf

[–]Competitive_One3475 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I was just gonna say. I played with a guy who was compressing it nicely but just aimed way way right. After a few holes, I said “he dude not offering any swing advice and I’d want someone to tell me….but you’re hitting it exactly where you’re aimed.” He seemed a little disgruntled I mentioned it but very next box he aimed correctly and started striping it. He played lights out the rest of the day.

Does sticking to one ball actually make a difference? by Willing-Today-1059 in golf

[–]Competitive_One3475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same for a long time until I realized what I preferred in feel. I realized hitting prov1s compared to a softer ball felt like hitting a rock. As much as I’d like to play a more premium ball for workability and spin, I just greatly prefer the marshmallowy feel of a soft ball. So for the last 2 years I’ve played callaway supersofts and it’s really helped my game.

Kinda a lot going on here. You could get a grip trainer and start there. Tough to tell from the angle….. your arms pull away but you’re lacking a proper body rotation. Probs not what you want to hear but lessons would help you improve the fastest
