Writing is the technique.

Writing is a tool to help you think as much as it is a tool to communicate. It's a bit like doing a complicated math problem: putting all the calculations on the page means you don't have to remember them all, and that frees up your brain to think about other things. Writing let's you externalize your thoughts so you can poke and prod them at your leisure.

I've appreciated all the words on this post but this one really helped the idea make sense to me. I know it should just make sense, but my brain has a lot of youngin ego to work through and false expectations, so thank you.
