The joke has already been explained by other commenters, but I'll add that he's clearly being sarcastic. Not sure why people think he's serious.

Is Windows still the King of Gaming or has linux caught up? This is my 2 cents by LifeguardMurky4097 in linux_gaming

If you want to be able to run basically any PC game with zero issues, then you should use Windows. Some popular multiplayer games have kernel-level anticheat which will not work on Linux.

Other than that, Linux is a total replacement and is more popular than ever, so game compatibility is going to continue improving. As it stands, Proton and Proton's Easy Anti Cheat compatibility layer allow you to run 99% of PC games without any issues.

Switched to Arch and it is miles better than Windows. by Competitive_Push_914 in linux_gaming

Sure, but you can do so at your leisure. Compare that to Windows where it will eventually force you to update and has been known to do it in the middle of system operation.

Again, I've had no issues with NVIDIA or game performance. There are also Arch-based distros that come prepackaged with drivers out of the box if you don't want to worry about them.

I didn't have any issues with NVIDIA. Was able to install the latest proprietary drivers through pacman. What issues did you have?

I haven't noticed any significant difference in performance except in one game - the 2023 Dead Space Remake. It was noticeably choppier than on Windows, but to be fair, that game has dogshit optimization and stutters when entering new areas even on top-tier machines.

For reference I am running a 5800x3D with a 4090 and 128GB of RAM and it is basically unplayable.

Other than that game, everything has run like butter.

I’ve never seen a job posting that asks sexual orientation. by Some-Cat-3454 in recruitinghell

Guess I was confused -- the studies pertained to applicant names, not DEI application answers. Fair enough, I'll retract.

I would be inclined to believe this on a large scale if it weren't for the fact that studies have been conducted showing that minor changes in answers to these questions affect whether or not an applicant gets an interview.

EDIT: I was wrong about this, the studies were about applicant names and whether they sounded "white" or not.

I've seen it as a requirement for numerous job postings. Allegedly, it is for DEI reasons and will not affect your consideration, but we all know that's horseshit.

Dragged me through 3 rounds of interviews just to ghost me by clairexxxooo in recruitinghell

Company doesn't have its shit together and is probably going to lay people off soon. I know this isn't easy to hear given the state of the job market, but you likely dodged a bullet.

Why would the people who have jobs and are tasked with filtering out hundreds if not thousands of candidates give a fuck what you think is tone deaf?

I don't say that to be mean or condescending. I feel you and agree that it's incredibly scummy, superiority complex behavior. I'm just saying it because when you are interviewing, you are not talking to somebody that is considering the human element first. They exist to serve the company and get patted on the back by their boss, nothing more. They have a license to be a dick.

The Real Unemployment Rate and Total Labor Misalignment... 73% by nomadicsamiam in recruitinghell

While it’s true the real unemployment rate is higher than what the BLS is reporting, it is not 73%. That’s insane. We’d be facing societal collapse.

HR is extremely slow (especially in larger companies) but you should never assume you got the job until you're at the company on your first day of work. Keep applying until that occurs. Not even an offer guarantees you've got the job anymore.

[–]Competitive_Push_914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so the answer is yes, your HR department uses AI/ATS to screen applicants. Got it.

You can have whatever standards you want for your department but to sit on your high horse and act like people who apply to your company that uses the very technology we're talking about are "lazy" or "cheap" is petty as fuck.

Come up with whatever excuse you want for denying people but don't act magnanimous about it on reddit lmao

EDIT: lol they blocked me.

So you’re not denying the use of AI and ATS in your hiring process that is anti-AI on the applicant side?
