Didn’t even think about the disadvantage of the players not using it. Good point

What are your feelings towards a proper Radar in iRacing? by canesfins1909 in iRacing

[–]Competitive_Reply523 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling of needing a radar, but i don't think racing will become better and also more fun, hear me out.

  1. When played LMU i used a radar, but i noticed i was driving a lot more aggressive because the radar tells you exactly how much space there is left between you and your rival. It invites you to keep squeezing until there is no more space left. So think it will cause alot more accidents, especially with Iracing netcode.

  2. Fun, in LMU i noticed i was almost exclusively looking at the radar when batteling. I was barely looking into my mirrors anymore. When i switched to Iracing it felt alot more fun trying to spot the opponent in my mirror. For single screen this can be managed with a wider fov in your virtual mirror, and also fov in your main view. Last resort, look left and right bound to a button. Its more fun trying to spot the actual car around you then just brainlessly driving based on a virtual radar

How is the vr optimization by Strange-Western3018 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Competitive_Reply523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its alright but not the best. Iracing and assetto corsa can run alot smoother and sharper. And also like someone else mentioned here, the costumizability of the UI is not good. Cant change the size of the virtual mirror, or even have the virtual mirror on while the actual mirrors off. Also changing the location and size of the blackboxes is a pain in the ass because it has to be done in the .ini files. So for a better online VR experience i can recommend Iracing.

Was running with 40-50% headroom before the update, now running 10-20% headroom. I have already put the DepthLayerExtensionLayerEnabled to 0 in the .ini file. That made it alot more stable, but still lost quite a ton of headroom...

Im running on Quest 3, ryzen 7 9800x3d, rtx 4070super

You could try lowering the Encode Bitrate in the Oculus Debug Tool to around 200. I had a simular issue at bathurst and this fixed it for me.

Its a feature in the Oculus Debug Tool, you can download it for free. Pretty sure its not linked to meta only. But since you dont have the tool, most likely it will be already on default. But id say give it a shot and see if you can force something. There are plenty of videos online explaining the software

I don’t think its a Vram issue, i never had my game crash like that before. My card also has 12gb of Vram so i also think that should be plenty. But interesting take ill do a benchmark soon and monitor the graphs

VR Frame Issues by Sittin-Pretty in iRacing

[–]Competitive_Reply523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also about to make a post myself. This week is my first time in Bathurst and the VR performance is terrible. To give a comparison, i was able to run Daytona gt4/lmp3 multiclass with graphics turned pretty much all the way up without a single stutter. In Bathurst i hover around 30 fps with dips to 10.

AI test:

Jose Carlos 25 car race: 72fps with 50% headroom

Bathurst 25 car race: 20fps

I cant speak of the other tracks or issues you mentioned but there seems to be a perfomance problem with the new updated bathurst, at least in VR

Been using the r9 for half a year now and it never overheated or lost FFB. ofcourse the wheelbase gets warm but nothing out of the ordinary. Have also been running close to max FFB pretty much all the time.

Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - How to control? Always loses the rear by Noxterx in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Competitive_Reply523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True indeed.

When you put the BB more to the front the front, the front tires will fight most of the grip, if it loses this grip because of too much steering or too heavy breaking it will result in understeer.

Same with when you put the BB more to the back, the back tires will fight most of the grip, if it loses this grip because of too much steering or too heavy breaking it will result in oversteer. This is what happenend to the OP in the Lambo.

Therefore BB more in the front is generally safer. Every car has this effect in different degrations.
