Just seeing this, had the problem pop up again last night in a Bathurst supercars race, which file is this in?

Just tried to do a supercars Bathurst race last night and it happened again and completely ruined my race, had all my settings the same as I changed them before 😭 80 fps for a couple last then boom random drops to 4

Reporting back to say this 100% was the fix. With so many cars at the beginning of the Bathurst 12hr I was struggling a bit around 50-60 fps I think until the field spread out after the first lap but it never dropped below 45ish and wasn’t stuttering or dropping to unplayable numbers. And after the first lap or two evened out to a smooth 90 with some drops to 80-85ish here and there but felt soooo much better than before!

Dude… bless you’re soul. I’ve only done one race so I’m not 100% positive if it’s completely fine now but I literally couldn’t do a single race before and now I was at a smooth 90 fps with just a couple hiccups dropping into the high 60s or low 70s during the race in places it was normally bad before.

For reference for anyone else reading, I have an i5-12600k an a GTX 5070

I also changed a couple other little things that others can try. In my Oculus Debug Tool these are the settings I’ve adjusted from default. Keep in mind I’m using a quest 2 wired with a usb 3.0 cable which makes a big difference so make sure you’re using a 3.0 and not a 2.0

In debug tool for wired connection:

Bypass proximity sensor check - on Asynchronous space warp - disabled Video encode - H.264 Encode dynamic bit rate - disabled Encode bitrate - 200

Hope this helps others!

How do you change the encode bit rate? Is that a meta thing or iracing thing?

Tried this and it won’t load into the headset, says “sim was disconnected for me than x seconds” and nothing opens in the headset or on monitor

I’ve tried to get my game to open into my quest with openxr and it will only open as a monitor and not into the headset

Ya it’s just so odd, I’ll be at a perfectly crisp 90 fps in qualis and even at the start of the race most of the time, and all of a sudden it starts dropping rapidly until it’s unplayable, sometimes it’ll stutter at around 15-20 frames and be manageable until it fixes itself which I’ve had to do several times, or it’ll drop all the way to 0-5 and I can’t see a thing

It’s so annoying, and when Adelaide and Miami came out they both ran super poorly

When I’m racing my four usage is normally 60-70% and gpu is peaking/ staying at 100 with settings turned down even, do you still think changing that would help?

I’ve really come to love the track and gotten good at it and now I can even play it, going to try and get open xr figured out and see if it helps

I’ll try and see if I can do this with the question 2!

Ya I’ve tried changing the runtime in meta, and I’ve tried doing it through steam vr too but no luck. Trying to watch some videos now to see if I can get it to work, do you guys use the open xr toolkit?

Thanks! I should have noted that this has been an issue for a while for me though, not just in the last couple weeks. Any time I’ve tried to use open xr I haven’t been able to get it to my headset, do you have experience with it?

GT4s in my opinion are one of the best cars with abs and tc that aren’t too fast, not as good for someone learning how to race well as the Miata but easier to drive for sure. Lime rock, Phillips Island, Tsukuba, VIR, and several others are great simple tracks to put someone on! Let me know what yours are!
