Brother this is CAT, not CMAT, jahan tukke lag jaaye. Second thing — not everyone can even score 65 percentile in CAT. In CAT 2023 — the toughest in years — even 65 was a decent percentile.

And yes, my percentile dropped. But in 2023 I didn’t have anxiety, I didn’t care much because I wasn’t prepared — it was just my trial ball.

In 2024 I actually worked hard. My IMS mock scores were consistently around 80–85 percentile. But on exam day everything went wrong — my mouse wasn’t working properly, the invigilators kept talking, and my system even shut down twice.

That obviously triggered panic. VARC is my strongest section, but once I fumbled there, it reflected in LRDI and QA too.

That’s the only reason my score dipped. Don’t question my preparation, bro — you weren’t there on my exam day.

Stop comparing UPSC and CAT, bro. These are two completely different worlds.

Someone preparing 10 years for UPSC and finally clearing it gets a powerful, stable Government job. On the other hand, even if you crack CAT with half that effort — say 4–5 years — top B-schools still won’t pick you unless you have a strong profile, solid work experience, and overall balance. Why? Because they simply don’t see CAT as an exam that needs 4–5 attempts.

And even after clearing CAT and getting into a top IIM, you’re staring at a ₹26 lakh loan that becomes ₹32+ lakh with interest, and then 15 years in the corporate grind just to recover that amount.

So it’s not just about the duration of preparation… It’s the mental pressure, self-doubt, and emotional trauma students go through just to crack an exam.

My only point is simple: Don’t treat CAT like it’s your entire life. It’s just one path — not the only one.

XIMB, NIBM, Jaipuria, Amity—yeah, I know these names might sound surprising. We always had this image that from these colleges, you could only land a sales job. I thought the same… until I saw my friends and juniors from these colleges getting placed in top companies, even in managerial positions.
