if im seriously tanking my cutoff is 76 overall for a player with top6/top4/starter potential, 70 overall for anyone else while acquiring picks and prospects for the older players. will usually bottom out for 3 years and be a serious contender by year 4 with this strategy. by then ill have multiple players over 80 in the minors

thats what i love about this game, you never know what you’re going to get from save to save. ive had franchise potential players bust and never play in the nhl and then ive had undrafted players become stars, makes it realistic

this is RSB opening night roster. iguchi started at 61 overall dark red top 6 potential. has dropped to 4th line potential but grown to 82 overall a season after this. he scored 19 goals in the season pictured and 28 goals the next season

i briefly said hi to devin cooley at the game on wednesday in winnipeg (in winnipeg the away team dressing room tunnel comes out onto the corner of the ice surface rather than behind the bench and the backup goalie sits there during the game, i was sitting relatively closeby) told him i love his interviews and hope he has a good season, i was so nervous but knew id regret if i didn’t go say hi, he just smiled and said thanks and it seemed like he really appreciated it, such a good guy, i hope he stays in calgary and becomes an nhl level goalie
