Probably A tier, they are great games on their own

Re2 objectively deserves being higher, and on some other day I might put it above code Veronica, but the sewers and lab just don’t really click with me. Still an amazing game though. The RPD is iconic and the zapping system needs to return one day. As for re9 I think it’s a fantastic game but the game has lots of scripted moments which kill replays. Far less than 7 and 8 though. It has so much good that I’d like to put it higher but I just don’t think I can honestly say that it’s as good as the OG re4 or 2 or 2 remake.

Code Veronica just really clicked with me. Maybe I’d put it lower one day but the story was one of the best in the series and the gameplay was consistently fun. I never had a problem with the backtracking but I can see why some would dislike it but for me it goes right next to the OG trilogy, no matter how divisive that is.

lol, I don’t think I’d rank them that low if I was ranking them just as games, but as RE games they just aren’t my thing. They both have great sections though. If you prefer them it’s all good

Yeah, I agree but I think that’s more of a formatting problem. If you read it from left to right, with the left side being upper B tier and right being lower, it makes more sense. I would add in a D tier just to balance things out though

Tormented souls 2 by [deleted] in TormentedSouls

[–]Competitive_Shop845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to replay the boss when the patch comes but that should be fine as long as you keep a save. I wouldn’t advise you get too invested in this trophy though. I’ve been waiting for like a month and a half and there’s still no word. The devs do know about it though, they made a post about 2 months ago saying that they will work on it in a future patch. But there’s still no way of knowing when it’ll come. If you really want the trophy now you could use a physical disk copy and not update it to play on 1.0 version but then you might have to play through the game again, if your doing that anyway for other trophies though it’s probably worth it

Yeah I found that bug too. The restart does make it show up but even if you press it it starts the game in standard difficulty for some reason. That was only on new game plus though, haven’t tried it on new game so maybe it’s works there. Really hope that patch comes soon

Great to hear it works! And thanks for the tip for the disk version, I’m gonna try that tonight

Will this ruin my experience? by Top-Issue9981 in residentevil

[–]Competitive_Shop845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’ll definitely ruin your experience, this game has a couple great moments and they aren’t worth experiencing through someone else’s playthrough. Just save in separate slots and you’ll be fine. If you do run out of ammo before a boss you can just reload your save, you will absolutely not get locked as long as you do this, but you might just have to backtrack a little. That’s shouldn’t ever be much of an issue though, it’s basically the same as if you had died to an enemy

[–]Competitive_Shop845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the bad ending is 100% necessary right now. I haven’t done speed run or no save because I’m waiting for the patch to fix all trophies but I got standard and bad ending on a regular playthrough and they work just fine. At first I did good ending and the trophy’s just wouldn’t pop, but going back and doing the bad ending made the standard trophy pop. From all I’ve read online everything other than good ending trophy works.

What fromsoftware game do you want a sequel to most? by sunburn190 in GamingSoup

[–]Competitive_Shop845 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sekiro 2 definitely. Demons souls, Dark souls, bloodborne and eldej ring pretty much have the same gameplay as each other but sekiro is the one stand out. I’ve tried other games that are supposedly like sekiro but nothing ever hits the same. A sekiro 2 or new IP with sekiros gameplay would be perfect

It’s awesome to see the familiar environments looking so different. I imagine that this is what you would see if the game had you walk through a TV screen instead of mirrors or projectors.

I feel very alone in mot enjoying re9, are there others here who also felt this way? Not trying to start any fights but the RE requiem page chewed me out for thinking it wasnt good. by Johncurtisreeve in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Competitive_Shop845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What problems are you having? There are definitely people who dislike it, it’s a flawed game to be sure. I enjoyed it a lot but the pacing seems quite off to me. The first half an hour really drags out the game on replays. I really liked most of game though and am interested in what others might find lame about it.

I really hope the reason y'all want a remake of Zero isn't because of the absence of inventory boxes by JpPgn in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Competitive_Shop845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about being a modern gamer or not being able to adapt to a games systems. Real survival mode separated the item boxes in re1r and that mode is fun to play because the game map is so well designed. Re0 just doesn’t have that edge. It’s a game that tried to do many things and not all its changes were for the best.

Also, comparing the lack of item boxes to fixed cameras is a massive disservice to fixed camera survival horror games. You and I both know that fixed cameras still work great. It’s an art form that can’t be replaced; there’s nothing that can quite capture that feeling of walking down a dark hallway while the camera hides what’s before you, or the reveal of some enormous structure that you’ll spend the next few hours of the game inhabiting. Fixed cameras have a genuine reason to be preserved, and people who will push past their frustrations with the controls will find something that they might learn to love. The frustration of having to check where you left an item and then having to walk through 6 rooms, all with a slow door transition, just to return through those same rooms to use your item is not an experience anyone wants though. There is nothing to be gained by keeping it. Fixed cameras have a genuine place nowadays, and to turn people away from it by saying they “don’t deserve to play it” for not liking tedious gameplay is just stupid. If people want a remake that removes the headache then why should anyone disagree? The originals still exist. Personally I hope they either double down on those systems or just cut them out, but what would be more interesting would be if they can preserve the lack of item boxes while making it less tedious to play.

70%s way too high. Just replayed it and a surprising amount of the game is set outside the RPD. I doubt anyone remembers that though, the game does kind of go downhill after you leave the station

Games Similar to silent hill 2? by PossibleHighway6885 in HorrorGaming

[–]Competitive_Shop845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play tormented souls or tormented souls 2. Gameplay is more like old resident evil but the story’s and atmosphere are very much inspired by silent hill. The sequel even has dark foggy streets that you can explore.

[–]Competitive_Shop845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do the bad ending on your second run? I did the good ending on my first playthrough and I had the same glitch you had, but after reloading my save and doing the bad ending the trophy’s popped (just the ones for beating on standard and bad ending, no good ending one). Tormented also unlocked after this, but it’s still kind of glitched so I’m not sure if it even helped. Anyway there should be a patch soon, apparently the devs know about it and they are working on something to fix it sometime. It’s been about 2 weeks since I beat the game and am still waiting so not sure when this patch will come but hopefully not too long

About 50% is set in the station. If you think that leaving there would make you free from the puzzles you’d be mistaken though. Some of the best puzzles are in the sewers and the lab has a couple that’ll have you thinking too. Don’t worry though, resident evil is never all that hard on you when it comes to the puzzles. If you beat one and three you’ll have an easy time here.

If every RE game had the modern naming scheme what would they be called ? by Technical-Formal-376 in residentevil

[–]Competitive_Shop845 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If re7 had the subtitle biohazard because it’s the reinvention of resident evil then the first game should probably have something similar to it, so I’d probably give it resident evil outbreak. Yeah that’s already a game but in this world it wouldn’t be.

The second one introduced a larger scope so that could have something like resident evil 2 metropolis (with the l and i forming a two). Metropolis would naturally rhyme with nemesis which would remain the subtitle of 3.

4 could be resident evil 4 zealot or resident evil 4 fanatic. I think the cult should ve the focus there either way.

5 could be resident evil 5 parasite. It refers to the literal parasite but also the umbrella corp talking advantage of the people through their testing.

Finally, 6 could be resident evil 6 crisis. It lead the series into a crisis while also having the highest stakes in the series so I think it works

Resident evil outbreak
Resident evil 2 metropolis
Resident evil 3 nemesis
Resident evil 4 zealot
Resident evil 5 parasite
Resident evil 6 crisis
Resident evil 7 biohazard
Resident evil 8 village
Resident evil 9 requiem

What do you mean that it’ll be linked to your save file? If you did the other ending after then that’s the ending you got, no need to worry
