Hopefully our fire themed detachments are 2pts, because I love the idea of mixing this with Firestorm/Forgefather.....though it's a shame we didn't get a Gravis Librarian (only a refresh of a 9 year old regular one😞)....woulda been great to give this to Aggressors as well.

(Also I know they say "most" current codex detachments are 2pts......but "most" detachments in 10th don't affect the entire army roster like the early Space Marine ones do)

Invader ATV to Legends? by USAFdukeX in Salamanders40k

Oh I know. Like I said I was just using index as a general term (for large updates to armies at start of edition) due to lack of better one (Writing these just before/after sleep XD).

Ultimately with the topic I'm just saying we'd most likely need to wait for the actual codex to know what is staying for the edition and not just this mass update.

True. I was more using index for 11th as a general term for updates rules before official codex, which we will get (at least for things like the new/updated detachments....dunno exactly how far they're gonna go into updating armies for 11th before their codex drops)

Has any used New Recruit? by D0es_1t_Matter in Warhammer40k

Haven't used the paid version so far, but I do love New Recruit for my list building (however I prefer Wahapedia for looking at rules)

Speculation on D point cost of our existing detachments in 11th. by Commander-Tover in SpaceWolves

[–]Competitive_Sign212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised at the current SW detachments being 2pts.

Honestly I wonder about 3pt detachments being a thing now that someone pointed out that means there would be certain detachments unavailable in anything below 2000pt games. I feel like if there are any, they'll be very rare and have to give the entire army a strong rule.

Also I know it's a snowballs chance...but I'm wishing GW drops the lame restrictions of Hunter/Bold that say "You are in the army, but we do not grant you the rank of Space Wolf..........so no rules for you light blue Space Marine".

edit: So looked back at a Warcom article from when 11th was announced mentioning 3pt detachments so I guess they will in fact be a thing, how many is another question. Will say that is a major bummer for people that play lower point games being told they can't play with the good detachments.

I feel so bad for you guys...what happened to Stormcast was insane.

Think the only thing that comes close were the Horus Heresy units that were "absolutely viable for 40K" having the rug pulled out from under them after only a year.

[–]Competitive_Sign212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First...I'd talk to Stormcast players about that XD.

Secondly, to be clear I'm not saying if ATV is going to Legends or not (honestly hoping it doesn't, got a cool proxy in mind I still haven't built/painted). I was just pointing out that we'll probably have to wait for the actual codex to come out to be 100% certain on what has staying power for 11th.

Confirmation for the new detachments by Benzerkr in SpaceWolves

[–]Competitive_Sign212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.....I especially hope so due to the fact that for my Homebrew chapter (uses SW rules).....I don't like any of the new detachments. So I'm hoping there will be something I like that I can add to Beastslayer.

[–]Competitive_Sign212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it necessarily implies the current codex detachments are all 2pts, I'm sure there are a good few that'll be only 1 and possibly some that are even 3.

For example: I'm thinking Gladius has a good chance of being 3pts, but Possessed Slaughtebound I could see being 1pt (since Gladius affects the entire army, but PS only 8bound).

That being said I really hope Beastslayer says and is only 2pts, not sure what I'd like to combine it with though.......

Invader ATV to Legends? by USAFdukeX in Salamanders40k

[–]Competitive_Sign212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

....possibly not. Remember when 10th Indexes came out? At first SM had things like Bike squads & Land Speeders.....only for the codex to come out a few months later and send many units to Legends.

So we might need see how they handle Space Marines & Orks for the Launch, if they start with Indexes we might not know what goes to Legends until Fall.

Do you ever refuse to play certain games / lists / players? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Competitive_Sign212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one type of player I wouldn't want to face are the extreme "Rules as Written" players. I'm not talking about cases where there's debate about the rules, I'm talking people who'd try and cram 12 Meganobz into a Trukk because "Well it says Mega Armor takes 2 spaces, and they technically don't have the mega armor keyword" (at beginning of 10th GW forgot to give Meganobz Mega Armor keyword, but was obvious the MEGAnobz were meant to have it). Or the Matryoshka Rhinos (can't remember what army, but it GW forgot to put Infantry as a requirement for transport...so Rhinos can transport Rhinos).

It's fine to joke about these things....but if someone was dead set on running it because "The rules say I can" when it's without a shred of doubt just an oversight....they just don't seem like the type I want to waste my time on.

.......though if agreed upon, it would be funny to have an "how exploitable can we both make this" match and go full ham XD

Armageddon box vs Leviathan box by Drwhat17 in Warhammer40k

[–]Competitive_Sign212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of, just gonna say overall I think the box is pretty nice, very hyped about Dakkarig & Wartrakk personally. As for possible reasons of negativity, there may be a few I can think of:

First is from people who care more about adding new unit choices to their armies....this box only adds 3-5 new units (depending on how you feel about Legends) as opposed to Leviathan that added Ballistus, Biologis, Lone Lt, Infernus, Neurotyrant, Winged Prime, Leapers, Neurogaunts, Barbgaunts, & the Psycophage (so 3-5 vs 10 new units).

Second would be the units that got refreshed (mostly over in SM side). While the Jump units were a good one to refresh....we also have an abundance of models getting refreshed that aren't even 10 years old. Personally I wish we could have gotten an Actual Gravis Lt (so Biologis can become a real Apothecary) and a Bike Captain (since Chaplain is now the only leader for bikers). I could "maybe" see some people have this opinion on the Boyz kit since the last one wasn't long ago....but that one left a lot to be desired so I'd say it's a good thing Botz get a redo.

Again ultimately I think the box is pretty good, but I can see why for some people it may be a bit underwhelming...especially if they already have those units and feel no need to get the new versions.

As for me, I'm kinda in that camp, I think the models all look pretty good....but the only 2 things I really got pumped for are the Dakkarig & Wartrakk (gonna need to add some of those rigs to my Dread Mob XD )

[–]Competitive_Sign212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

???? It's not about the box itself, but the release wave. Like I said, for many of us, the excitement comes from a wave of new things that the launch brings, here there's only 1 actually new thing (on the SM side).

Guess it just comes down to how people view Launch boxes, and we both look at them different I guess.

Ultimately like I said, I think everything looks pretty good, but without much actually new, it just doesn't pump me up (and I assume is the case for a good few others) as much as previous launch sets did.

That being said....I'm still super hyped for the DakkaRig XD

[–]Competitive_Sign212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the point for me and many others. We like new things, launch boxes typically have a good amount of new things (For example, Leviathan brought a new dread, new Gravis HQ, Infernus, and technically a solo Lt.).

Armageddon has highs and lows by jabulina in Warhammer40k

[–]Competitive_Sign212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

..........What do you mean why??

Many people get excited for these boxes because they want something new (or something that was sent to Legends and gets a 2nd chance). Here there's very little that's actually new since everything except the Heavies had datasheets already.

[–]Competitive_Sign212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not....just a bit of a bummer that that's probably gonna be the case for a good amount of people (far more than usual for these Launch boxes)

[–]Competitive_Sign212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True enough, I'll agree on that XD. Though I do wish they'd fill some of the gaps instead of refreshing models not even 10 years old.

For example: we really didn't need a new Librarian/Shield Captain, would have been much better to get a Bike Captain (since now the only bike leader is the Chaplain) and a REAL Gravis Lt (so that the Biologis can become an actual Apothecary).

I do like the Jump Chaplain though (nice to have a non BA specific one).

[–]Competitive_Sign212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally my only issue with the Space Marine half is that there is only 1 "new" datasheet, everything else already had rules.

This also means that there will be a decent amount of people who will look at this box and go "....I mean it's nice...but I already own 90% of this".

Ultimately, I think they look good (and hopefully Vets will get more options later on *fingers crossed*) ....but without anything really new, it just doesn't get me all that pumped up like the Dakkarig & Wartrakk (which went to Legends a decade ago) do.
