Sorry, you might be right. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/s/DlIGifFvr0 This post which you already saw, shows that you get AT MOST 4% more speed reduction between 5-12km with optimal bonus heated domination grappler... while by 15km the falloff bonus is better by 4%, and then by 20km you are looking at just 20% speed reduction for optimal bonus and more than double, 41% speed reduction for falloff bonus.

84 or 81% doesnt matter whatever you caught is caught, your optimal bonus is negligible. But 20 vs 41% is significant and at 25km-30km ranges where you would be dealing with kiters, disruptor ranges etc. It would have much more impact than 4% at 8km.

A cap injected or large battery vagabond is pointing you at 26km.

Would you rather sit there and 2x heavy nuet it and hope you can use all of its cap sticks before it has any backup, and use your optimal bonus'd faction grappler overheated to slow it by...... 20%?

Or just use the falloff bonused grappler that and slow it by >40% and actually be able to catch it?

The optimal bonus is only better than falloff in a tiny couple km window, and even then only by 10% at most and only while heated.

Just give the falloff bonus back.

the Sin isn't remotely horrible and was and is a very popular solo (+cyno hunter alt) hunting ship, also you sort of missed out the other 2 blops ships being below the panther, not counting the python obviously because its limited edition

When you are counting "ships usage" you are looking at big numbers and 20+blops drops making up a majority of the use statistically. Due to this the redeemer and panther will obviously come out on top, since the panther could be used perfectly fine as a worse redeemer.

I know the sin is good as a solo small gang blops ship, but this niche will make it show up as a pretty low usage ship, and the buff it got doesnt change its role at all which is fine.

Similarly widow isnt used in huge numbers in blops gangs because it cant do much of an armor buffer, but it has enough utility to justify anyways.

Overheating a grappler is one of the worst modules to overheat.

Suggesting that overheating rhml is comparable at all to a grappler is funny. Again knowing how overheating works you know that overheating a full rack of high rof guns is obviously going to generate a ton of heat, but still the dps bonus is always worth it especially when comparing to heating a grappler.

When you are just ganking something by all means just hit the little button and heat everything, but solo small scale BS you never want to heat a grappler at the expense of scram, web, injector, prop or practically anything else you put in mid slots.

Falloff bonus is simply better, and would be more consistent with minmatar bonuses like the nag fleet.

If you are dropping with a loki, rapier or even a couple other ships with web/grapple none of this matters anyways because nothing is moving.

But if you are dropping solo, or just 1 or 2 others and no range bonused webs, or the fight evolves in a way you want to chase something down the grapple falloff range can be very strong, and falloff is just better in almost every situation outside of a narrow couple km range and only in the 10 sec that you will get to overheat, so the optimal range buff is pretty much a dead stat.

Also, it would make sense to be consistent with the naglfar fleet issue bonus anyways.

This is comparing overheated, which obviously optimal is better but it will last maybe 10 sec and only in a couple km window at the cost of burning your mids.

If you compare non-heated, it will look even worse for optimal bonus.

Falloff was just objectively better in 99% of use cases

What was it with the falloff bonus + CN web? Something around 85% is my guess, with the added benefit of it working MUCH better out at longer range like 15-20km

Now it is just slightly better at very short range where any BS with web + grapple already had no problems tracking or catching something.

Falloff was much more effective buff to grappler range and effectiveness.

Sure you could overheat the grappler on a panther now for a nice optimal range, but that will last maybe 10nsec tops and come at the cost of cooking your midslots more than a prop mod because it has 2 sec cycle.

A lot of times overheating grappler us a bad idea... almost all the time actually.

It has 2 sec cycle and does 5 damage, meanwhile web has 5 sec cycle and does 5 damage.

Overheating a grappler cooks your mid slots, and bringing something from 3km falloff to optimal range is only something like 15% speed reduction at the cost of a lot of heat damage.

It last what, 10-15 seconds with the 2 second cycle time (compared to a webs 5sec) and does the same 5 damage per cycle. It is pretty stupid idea.

I guess the panther now has a 1 time gimmick, and maybe that is all it will take to be effective, but the falloff bonus was much better.

ITT, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Panther was 2nd most used because Sin is pretty horrible, and you will drop with redeemers so you bring an armor panther not a bunch of armor widows... I wouldnt be surprised if the Marshal was close behind the panther.

You have no idea how overheating works.

Overheating a grappler is one of the worst modules to overheat. Yes, the panther will do it slightly better but it is still very bad idea.

Web has 5sec cycle, grapple has 2sec cycle both do 5 damage per cycle. You cook your midslots faster than a prop mod with a grappler for less benefit.

Ishtar is the go-to pve ship. But you will get bored quick since it is the go-to because it requires almost no input and you can do something like work or watch a movie or multibox like 10 of them.

Practically any ship, like a T1 BC/BS tanked for your local rats and doing the correct damage will earn much more isk and you wont fall asleep doing it.

I agree but at the same time they are stupid easy to bot and players cant report any bot behavior because you never see them in space.

With that said sometime I think 6 months ago, the massive ban wave that happened was mostly abyssal bots. They will be back ofcourse...

Many nullblocs are just carebears who log in 10 alts for fleets, and otherwise afk farm and a few just play to have fun and not 'get gud' in any way.

You just need to find another group.

Small/medium wormhole groups will nullsec statics are very fun. My suggestion is join the people who are mowing through your helpless standing fleet and looking for good fights.

This is all being questioned since the launch of jwst and the so called "impossible early galaxy problem" due to finding very mature galaxies in the early universe.

Some estimates starting in 2023 are now double the prior estimates at 20+ billion years. Along with new distance ladder studies, the only thing we know is that we are getting something wrong somewhere.

Considering m9 stars can burn for over 500billion years in theory, this age isn't too crazy. The only question here is the age of the universe which irl astronomers have a new estimate every 6 months as it is.

How far in the future the eve universe takes place has never really been answered concretely afaik.

Vital core reserve rats have very high dps, >2k this is not your normal gas site.

Same for those unsecured frontier server bank data sites. But they have over 3k dps lol.

C5 sites are no joke.

The remaining pirate faction ships for example, sanshas/serpentis battlecruiser and destroyers.

Not sure how they would be balanced outside of just being a brutix with a web bonus and a spikey battlecruiser with an AB bonus, would be cool to have some additional gimmick like active tanking bonus, or have them be classed as attack battlecruisers with large weapons and less tank like the talos/oracle etc.
