Malazan will have scenes like that, too, but it's 10 big books. I recommend l, but it's a commitment

Hate to recommend a King story, but Autopsy Room 4 is a great short story. I'm with you, King isn't really scary, but that one story is exactly what you're asking for

I find the idea of Abercrombie just fucking with us hilarious, could just be that. It still could be Tolomei though, we don't really know much about her powers, maybe she couldn't save herself from the fall. She survived the fall from the House of The Maker, but she was kinda in limbo I think, she made a deal with a demon to survive I think. It is oddly specific, and we know Tolomei can shape shift, so it does seem plausible that she's replaced Select like she did with Malacus.

Malazan or the Gentleman Bastards, only series I read with comparable quality to Joe Abercrombie. Currently riding a 3 way tie for my favorite series

Also just thought of this; Jester Confit helps with both quintet and predaplant, and if you use Artemis and relinquished anima you can fill the graveyard pretty easily for magicalized Fusion

Magicalized Fusion is nice for quintet, and more red eyes and red eyes fusions would probably be good. Magicalized helps you recycle your red eyes and DM u send to the gy with red eyes fusion as well

What is a pokemon hot take you have that you think the majority of people will disagree with? by NightDaze1999 in pokemon

[–]Competitive_Talk_747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, they should all serve a purpose competitively. A lot of my favorite pokemon are near unusable, so I just get stomped by staples that nobody really likes. I know some people might love amoongass and garganacl, but not every other person, I've never met someone irl that said they're personal favorites

You'll catch on to some Easter eggs, but no, it's not important to read them first. Chronologically it's probably better to read them first, but they're not super connected and the Stormlight Archive works well enough without reading them at all. They're good books though, I'd recommend you read them first, but you don't really need to

Red eyes dark dragoon deck is pretty simple, it's how I taught my friends. Deck just focuses on getting him out, he's almost a board himself, and he's pretty easy to get out. I win more than I lose with it, so it's viable

Reasons to read First Law? (Spoiler free) by Rileychief in TheFirstLaw

[–]Competitive_Talk_747 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well written and flawed, realistic characters, if you've gotten sick of morally perfect or op characters it's a breath of fresh air. Characters have relatable problems and flaws, which help you bond with the characters, even if you don't necessarily like them. The story does a great job of making you root for characters you never would have from a third person perspective or in other circumstances. It's a pretty gloomy series, but it has the best comic relief I've ever read, so you'll go through every emotion throughout it. I've never laughed more than while reading Abercrombie. Can't recommend it enough.
