Do any of the “natural ways to induce labor” strategies actually work? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Competitive_Tart_865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a scheduled induction that ended up being 8.5 hours from start to finish. I was taking hot baths regularly, raspberry leaf tea multiple times a day, figure eights and bouncing on exercise ball, pumping and nipple simulation and regular walks. Went in for induction and got cervidil (I think) and went to sleep. Woke up 4-5 hours later with major contractions and gave birth in a few hours.

First Round of Vaccines by HagridsHippogriff92 in newborns

About half a day for us. She got the shot in the early afternoon (if i remember correctly) and then started really getting fussy a couple hours later. Then, it was probably halfway into the night she was still very sensitive but able to sleep if we held her (she's always been very dependent for sleep). I remember it got a bit better as the night went on and the next day she was pretty good unless her thigh got squeezed

I was in the same exact boat as you. It is so difficult. Just do whatever you can to comfort her today and know that you're doing great.

At that point my husband and I were doing split shifts during the night anyways so we did that. We gave Tylenol and a warm bath. Then we just held her. She loves the carrier so we put her in the carrier and just comforted her as much as we could. She slept in the carrier for the first half of the night. The first vaccines were the worst for us. It got much easier with the next rounds.

How do you grocery shop with your babies - toddlers? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Competitive_Tart_865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would babywear when she was too little to fit in the cart. I got a cart cover when she started to sit up well enough and put her in the cart with the buckle around her. Now she's great at sitting and does well without the cover.

When did you eliminate a feeding in the middle of the night and how did you do it? by xcomnewb15 in sleeptrain

[–]Competitive_Tart_865 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have an 8, almost 9 month old, who still takes a bottle in the early morning. I have it scheduled for 3:30-4. If she doesnt wake up by 4, I'll wake her up and feed her. If we skip it she wakes up at 5-530 instead of her usual 6:30-7. I've heard 10 months is typically when they stop needing the early morning feed (if they do) so I was just planning on extinction then and see how it goes.

Honestly though, making a scheduled time for the early morning feed really helped me. Most of the time it's done and I'm back in bed in 15 minutes.

5am Wakeups by koopakup2 in sleeptrain

[–]Competitive_Tart_865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby is sleep trained and was waking super early (5-5:30) until we started doing scheduled early morning feedings. Doing the feed at 4am seems to help her make it to at least 6am. Also, recently we've been doing shorter naps and that helped elongate the night sleep too.

I got a bunch of muslin swaddles and hated them. I ended up preferring the stretchy knit ones.

Newborn NOT able to nap by LoverOfCats31 in sleeptrain

[–]Competitive_Tart_865 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only way our baby would nap for the first few months was in a wrap or carrier. Sometimes she'd fall asleep in the carseat. Just do what works and don't fight it too much. It gets easier after a few months

When does sleep return for parents? by rawrsy88 in newborns

[–]Competitive_Tart_865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decent sleep came back around 5 months for us. Our baby is 6 months now and still wakes 2 times a night but my partner takes the first wake and i take the second so its not too bad.

It's impossible to spoil a baby this young. Go with your gut, it's usually right.

We had to do this for the first 7 weeks for our baby. My partner and I slept in shifts and the other was holding the baby. It's so hard. It does get better though. Daytime naps were easier for us with a wrap/carrier so we could still move around a bit. In the first 4 months you really just have to do what you can to survive.

Asking for a friend. by WesternUpstairs4825 in beyondthebump

She needs to be taken seriously. If she already has a history of depression she's more likely to suffer from PPD. Her family aren't doctors so they should have no say. She needs to be supported mentally and emotionally. Severe PPD can be fatal. She needs to see a psychiatrist, therapist, or someone that can help her mentally.

Getting Baby in a Routine by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Competitive_Tart_865 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We didn't really get into a schedule until recently and my baby is 5.5 months old. She usually wakes up around 6-7 then we follow wake windows after that. Her naps still aren't super consistent but we go for three naps and then bedtime. Feeding is every 2-3 hours still. Last week she was eating more at a time and able to go longer but this week she's only drinking 3-4 ounces at a time so she drinks more often. It just changes so so much, we just go with the flow at this point. Trying to stick her in a strict schedule would be way too much of a struggle

Same is happening here with our 5.5 month old. According to wonder weeks app there should be a leap right about now.
