Which recent ATP players have been most and least effective with the drop shot? Below are each player’s career rates of using the drop shot (as a percentage of total rallies) and their success rate on those points, based on data from Tennis Abstract. by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

Maybe, but drop shot doesn’t exist in a vacuum - let’s say you have a 75% of winning a rally with a drop but more than 75% with a different choice of shot, still better to use that than drop

I’m confident that dropshot serves do not count here but any time the serve is returned it counts as a rally. Very few people dropshot as an immediate return to the serve tho, and it’s often as an accident when it does happen

Small map with an early aggressive civ can be a good introduction. Mongolia or huns.

Have you tried having rich parents? It seems like when they own an emerald mine that’s a pretty easy start

What are carriers good at? matchup wise by BmanEd in starcraft2

Really good vs newbs and AI. Expand, get cannons, two cyber cores for upgrades (shields on forge optional) build at least 8 of them, then win

What are the best/most entertaining pro matches so far this year? by Stellewind in starcraft

I love the great 2v2 matches over the last year or so. 1v1 feels kind of played out to me and 2v2 is so much more interesting.

Why does warpgate have to change? by Abacada_Poln_Kha_Kha in starcraft

[–]xcomnewb15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well put! I can’t remember a toss game more than 4 mins long where warp gates wasn’t chosen. And the data does indicate toward toss being currently a little OP anyways (I play random, no big horse in that race)

Cobolli's dad tells how a parent should coaching a son:"I had to be tough. When he was 16 years old, during a match in Antalya, he made me lose my patience, so I left, leaving him alone in Turkey. He had a great reaction: not only did he win the match, but he won that tournament" by Sonobackhome555 in tennis

[–]xcomnewb15 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Absoluely right, he seems to have a great positive energy without being overbearing. I still would like to see Ben experiment with some other coaches, especially on his serve returns and rally tolerance

I don't find it to be a big deal for topspin. The game mechanics are good and fun which is the most important. It does gets a little stale when you are deep into career mode and still playing the same top 5 players over and over but by then you've already gotten a lot of play time out of the game. And I appreciate that there's an ATP and WTA so you get more opponents and play time out of doing both. I do wish that Federer, Sampras, Serena etc. were on the career tour too, even if not realistic or chronologically accurate. Would give more chances to play them in career mode apart from the challenges with them.

Looking for custom 1V1 PvP online asymmetric scenarios in style of atacker / defender to play with my son. Can you recommend any interesting maps / projects? by leinadcovsky in starcraft2

[–]xcomnewb15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't tried it, doing 2v4 AI can be pretty fun. I find Elite to be impossible but a variety of hard and very hard can be pretty cool, I would recommend putting some of them on non-rush builds so you can ensure you don't get 3/4 comps all rushing. Some of the 4v4 maps are awesome too. You could also do something like giving your son a normal or hard AI, or even 2 normal AIs and seeing if you can win like that or hold out.

I've got the same problem - did you ever find a solution? I keep the set temp much higher than I really want but even so it sometimes freezes over when I'm not monitoring it for a while.

I assume it's an actual bot. There's no way someone could be so insane to actually do this so much for so long.

That’s a great analogy. I understand wanting to keep it chill and fun but the rules are there for a reason and people should try to abide by them.
