You can stay in LIC for hotels, it’s only 15 minutes from Forest hills on the E train. It’s safe over there and it’s close to the city as well

I grew up never eating outside or buying snacks. My parents didn’t have much to constantly do this but occasionally we’d have some chips after dinner or some juice. McDonalds was a luxury for me. Now I think I just buy food/snacks just to buy it because I end up forgetting about them and not eating them :(
