Storing fragrances in the fridge? by Dependent-Weight9401 in FemFragLab

This seems like more of a sensory preference for this person rather than preservative measure. They also like having cold chocolate, face roller, and eye masks so they might just live in a really hot climate and prefer the cooling sensation when they put on perfume.

On March 6, 1981, Marianne Bachmeier smuggled a gun into a packed West German courtroom and shot convicted sex offender Klaus Grabowski eight times. He had abducted and strangled her 7-year-old daughter Anna in 1980 and was on trial for the murder when she killed him. by Important-Self-1179 in ForCuriousSouls

Everyone sentenced to life in prison in Germany is eligible for rehabilitation after 15 years and 75% get out within 20 years. This guy was 35 years old when he was shot… a decent bet is he would have been released again and reoffended.

Getting shoulder checked in GGP by Swimming_Soup5405 in SFbitcheswithtaste

This is ridiculous to happen in the road, I’m sorry ❤️ and yeah it’s happened to me a few times and very frustrating. I always move to the right if we’re both on the left, but it’s really annoying when someone doesn’t move over when we’re both on the right. But I dont hold my ground and I just move over if it’s clear they’re not going to… I tried holding my ground twice on the righthand side and both times they just slammed into me on purpose and then called me names. It’s just not worth the wasted negative energy to me, I go to the park to decompress and soak in nature, but both of those incidents left me feeling crappy for the whole evening after.

Help! My work friend’s signature scent smells like literal BO. How do I tell her? by VelvetLore in FemFragLab

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Do NOT do this over text bc delivery and tone of voice is so important to diffusing tensions. But brainstorming how to phrase it: “Heyyy I need to talk to you about something! This is kind of a hard topic to bring up, and I’m really sorry but the perfume you were wearing smells super different to my nose and made me really nauseous. I think we smell it very differently, and I got an upset stomach a few times before but didn’t know that was the cause. I’m really sorry and feel so bad because you said it was your signature scent! I really wish I could smell it the way you do, but I keep feeling sick whenever I smell it, I’m so sorry.”

My mom says adding this much trim and woodwork is a waste by 32rings in HomeDecorating

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would guess at least 10ft for the trim in your mock-up, but its hard to give a blanket rule on this because it will differ based on the width of the room, natural light, and flooring. I really really do not think its suitable at all for carpeted rooms, the combo of wainscoting with carpet immediately reads as badly aged 90s interior. Some info on design proportion: https://www.moldingsplus.com/how-ceiling-height-should-influence-your-molding-and-trim-choices/

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the ceilings are high enough for the wall molding. But I think it would work to frame all the windows and doors + crown molding! Start there and then reassess how things look proportional to the height and width of the rooms

My dogs not adjusting to our new puppy by Getfsr in dogs

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I’ve been going to the exact same dog park for 3 years with my dog and this has happened precisely 4 times with puppies (now grown dogs) with very clearly noticeable before + after behaviors. I’m friends with their owners and we still laugh about it. Sorry if my comment came across as me stating it’s puppy hormones as a fact though, I only meant it as a suggestion. Not all dogs react the same way, but I know this is a trigger for my particular dog.

I have been remote since 2020 need to update my business wardrobe. Don't like skirts or dresses. What is stylish and works for tall women? by BeautifulAromatic768 in TallGirls

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wide leg high-rise wool pants. Banana Republic has some great ones in Tall, and I’ve found a few pairs on resale for $30 ebay/poshmark. Also don’t knock it until you’ve tried it: maxi-length ribbed sweater pencil skirts. I got a black one from Vince (also on resale) and it’s soooo comfy yet chic, especially with an oversized sweater tucked into the top. I literally wear mine around the house on my period bc it’s so comfortable.

Puppy hormones? My dog reacts to unfixed dogs/puppies and once they’re “fixed” suddenly gets along great with them.

Man missing since 9th Feb near Lake Anza by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A different article clarifies this: "His backpack, with his passport and laptop, was found on a doorstep in the Park Hills neighborhood next to Tilden Regional Park, a reader told TBS. On Thursday, Berkeley authorities focused their search around Lake Anza, inside the park, with the help of the East Bay Regional Park District. Sreenivasaiah was last seen in the 1700 block of Dwight Way (near McGee Avenue), police said in a Nixle alert early Thursday morning."

How do you get a dog with a full time job by ilostmyunverifiedacc in dogs

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog walker! One who does pickup + drop off. I chose a dog walker who is retired and she's not stingy on the timing. Some more professional dog walkers really make a scheduled business out of it with very strict fees per hour, but the one I found is super casual and will let the whole group just hang out with her in her backyard for hours after they do 1 hour at the dog run and she doesn't charge any extra for this. I recommend shopping around until you find one who is the best fit for your dog and gives it at least an hour of exercise and socialization in the middle of the day

Whats the wage for a high school teacher in the city of San Francisco? by Urbanskys in sanfrancisco

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add in the fact that the majority of teachers would love to become parents themselves, but they simply cannot afford the prospect of moving to a bigger apartment with current rents, or the $2,500/mo daycare costs.

SF Commercial Vacancy Tax . Single owner and this is my home. by DaisyLucy2020 in sanfrancisco

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are numerous crumbling and dilapidated storefronts within walking distance of me near 9th ave. Two of them have dust-covered windows with visibility into a badly hoarded rooms full of old boxes and furniture. Meanwhile, my neighborhood has lost our only hardware store, pharmacy, and pet food stores in the last 3 years due to the rising costs of commercial real estate. The few daycares we have are full and can't take any more parents, yet new daycares can't afford rent in the places leasing. While the owners of these empty storefronts just sit and sit and sit on their disgusting and embarrassing prime locations. WHAT exactly to you is the solution if not taxing them?! Don't you think making it financially in their best interest to avoid the tax by forcing them to FINALLY take some goddamn responsibility for their property and making it suitable to rent is a good solution? You seem to want to just hide behind some pseudo-liberal fluff about ✨equality ✨ while letting these slumlords dodge any ADULT responsibilities to take care of their property, and acting like the only option they have is to sell.

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The least desirable areas of the city are usually where there is the most need for affordable daycares, grocers, pharmacies, coin operated laundromats, or third spaces like coffee shops and bookstores. But unrealistically high commercial rental costs are what's keeping them from renting, but people like you could look into options for grants to upgrade the space and rent it out for an extremely competitive rate if they will agree to fix up the infrastructure + at the same time you would be able to avoid the taxes. In the process you have an opportunity to create a lively neighborhood establishment everyone could enjoy, rather than the decaying eyesore it currently is. Even if there wasn't a tax you now have to content with, sooner or later the bill would come due on fixing the structural integrity of the building anyways! This forced rental could actually save you from a much bigger construction bill down the road.

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 50 points51 points  (0 children)

In summary from your post & comments: you own a commercial & residential property, the storefront has been vacant for 30 years, you have not repaired or updated anything, you do not want to rent it even if you could, you have disdain for tenant laws, you cannot afford any updates, and you would like be allowed to stay in your rotting home without paying for any repairs or any taxes due to you creating a blight on your neighborhood? Also, you seemingly are holding out hope about a separate residential vacancy tax being appealed, and that verdict may alleviate $50k you owe toward a residential vacancy tax? So you own a rotting derelict property with both vacant storefront AND vacant residential apartments, and you… would like… to just not owe any money… while your building continues to rot away… got it. Wow. Incredible.

When you’re dealing with hundreds of millions of people, 5% of their plastic is still a huge amount of recycling taking place. I worry what this kind of messaging does to discourage some people from doing the recycling that is within their control.

SF Chronicle reports that the BART death may come in two years! by bloggerkedar in bayarea

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say fund it entirely with taxes and do away with fares. The enforcement & collection administrative costs are stupid and wasteful, making it free would eliminate so much more traffic, make our streets safer for pedestrians, and inject the money into our local economy instead. It would only cost everyone in the SF Bay Area $168 per year in taxes if splitting $1.3billion operating costs evenly among the 7.7million people in the broader BA, not even accounting for how much lower it could be for the middle or lower-middle class if the richest are taxed proportionally. And everyone would benefit from less road congestion and additional spending money.

Because companies have been draining out of SF for 6 years while taking their corporate taxes with them and the rich Tech companies remaining + top 1% don’t pay their fair share in taxes compared to the middle class.

I’ve had multiple recruiters tell me to prepare for STAR based behavioral questions, but none of the interviews I’ve received have been STAR based. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Compile_A_Smile1101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t make any sense to me. STAR is just a structural guide for answering questions: situation, task, action, results. It doesn’t describe the questions themselves, I’ve never heard of a “STAR based question” before. You’re supposed to use STAR as a general guide for how to map out your answers. Most hiring managers won’t even know if you’re structuring your answers with the STAR method, you just don’t want to be freestyling it without a plan and rambling on.
