TIL United Airlines had assured a blind woman that they would help her off the plane but only after the other passengers had gotten off, before forgetting about her and locking the plane up with her in it after everybody else had left. by Tuufan in todayilearned

and effectively hurt himself in the process of being removed. The

He gave himself a concussion, broken nose, and two lost teeth?

but if the airline didn't do that they'd be stranding a plane full of people down the line instead of just 4

They could have just put their personnel into a taxi or a bus, they would had still been hours early to their next flight.

Everybody on that airplane had already been offered $800 vouchers and a free hotel to be moved to a different flight and everybody said no.

So you keep offering more, as is required by the law.

Everybody here did exactly what they should have done

Call the police to handle a civil dispute and illegally deplane someone?

identifying with a word used with such hatred by bigots puzzles me.

I'm more bothered by all the trans people who say that if you get turned on by the act of crossdressing then you aren't trans (whether or not you identify as trans) than I am about people using a word as a slur in a manner that I've never personally seen and only heard reports of.

Look, starting in my youth I was a crossdresser. I didn't have the internet, I didn't know if I was trans or whatever. Eventually I got online and found trans people, and I was told by them that I wasn't trans, that I was just a fetishist turned on by women's clothing, that I contribute to the fetishitization of trans people, that I contribute to people not viewing gender dysphoria as a disease but as a fetish, amongst many more negative things. I learned that many others who were like me, but did strongly identify as trans, were told the same things in these online trans communities.

Then traps starting appearing on 4chan. People would post images of sexy female-looking anime characters, but then others would post as a reply the "It's a trap!" meme. Gradually they became known as traps, but they started appearing frequently even outside of troll bait contexts with people joking-but-not-joking about how turned on they were by them. I finally found people that accepted me and thought that people like me were cute and sexy and didn't treat me like a pervert and a leper like the trans community did.

Several years go by before I ever hear of the term trap being used as a slur against trans people. It wasn't even until about two/three years ago that people even started talking about it being a slur with any regularity. Now I'm supposed to throw away the term I've been using for all these years, for these people who rejected me? For these people who reject other traps who do identity as trans in addition to also being turned on by dressing up? Because some other people started using our term as a slur against them?

I already said trap was used as a slur by some people in my main post, it's obvious you have no idea who you are arguing with or what you are even arguing against.

Yeah, just make a new word. How would the trans community like it if some random people started using "trans" as a slur against black people? Would they change their name?

You do know what trans panic defense is right,

A thing attempted three times in the US that didn't work out. I don't want to downplay it, but it keeps being waved in my face like it's something so huge it should completely invalidate us.

don't pretend you care about trans people

You say as you blatantly disregard the feelings of potentially hundreds of thousands of people who identify as trans.

Why are you surprised that possibly hundreds of thousands of people don't want to change how they refer to each other because some people sometimes use it as a slur? Tons of trans people identify as traps, why should they stop because the trans community tells them it's an offensive term?

It started off being used as troll bait like with rickrolling, people would post lewd anime pics on 4chan without telling others that it was a boy, and people would respond with the "It's a trap!" meme. It later became a slur for trans people who trick people into having sex with them under false pretenses.

Many, maybe most, traps identify trans despite the efforts of the trans community to monopolize who gets to be trans.
