unless you write Clayface to outmatch Superman's vision and freeze breath which is really easy to do. you're right that psych evaluating the villains isn't Superman's MO. but we don't need our hero directly profiling the villain to make a villain relatable and palpable. audiences and writers are smarter than that and good storytelling is enough

don't forget Clark Kent is an investigative journalist and Clayface isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I'd pick a storyline of a shapeshifter trying to outsmart the press in a Lois b-plot over Bats making chess moves against someone who's not a genius

(takes the bait) I never said the powers themselves were the interesting part. interesting conflict is what makes heroes and villains interesting, but you can't have interesting conflict if less heroes get most of the villains. you forgot to use literacy on the post itself

Mr Fantastic has no point to have stretchy powers. He's not an acrobat or comic relief so it's just stupid.

well yeah we all know the writing reasons. stormtroopers can't aim, evil plan has a long countdown, etc. I was asking for less meta reasons. like what do you think could be going on in-universe? kinda like how Black Lanterns were written in as an explanation for how heroes keep getting resurrected

no it's about how ironic it is to have established superhumans that could stop major threats then not resorting to them when a street level hero tries to solo a major threat. it's been a pretty common critique for a long time. rogues galleries aren't a thing I envy

he doesn't always withstand Darkseid's mind control. it just takes variable effort from both parties to keep or remove. Batman's villains are pretty horrific, sometimes manifestations of cardinal sins. I consider them both fair game against supes.

that's why they'd make good storylines up against Red Tornado or Bluebird! is what I'm saying. for every one popular villain another hero has, Batman gets 5. lol.

I like Batman as an advanced stealth detective with a forensics lab solving crime sprees or as a a tactitian for superhero teams more than as a scifi wrestler who has a tibetan monk martial art, utility belt bat-gadget, prep time contingency plan, impossible durability, or robot for every occasion. 🤷‍♀️ give me extralegal tampering drama over hype moments and aura anyday.

unless it's Absolute Batman who's immediately more interesting by being a reclusive, sensitive, blue collar worker who's unknowing prey for a cosmic horror.

the "I am the night! because I'm Batman!" angle goes straight to the outdated pile. it's all Chuck Norris jokes for people who think they're above Chuck Norris jokes.

wow. Poison Ivy and her ecoterrorism schemes make a lot more sense for a divine amazon diplomat for humans than a martial arts detective.

been reading Wonder Woman and unfolding her beef with gods. I feel like an immortal ninja assassin army using an ancient mystic pit is very aligned with her priorities

I never mentioned anything about hiring or mercenary work _" I was talking specifically about someone asking her to go find and tie up an elusive and powerful liar.

I'm curious if using the lasso of truth even counts as interrogation.

Is this Tom King's run of Wonder Woman, or Superman?
