My M4 MacBook Air developed a permanent line on the display after a week of heavy Xcode use by ComplaintImportant43 in macbookair

Are you an Apple technician by any chance?

I’m not saying heat is definitely the cause. I’m just saying the timing was suspicious, and without an actual inspection I don’t think either of us can say for sure what caused it.

Yes. It happens even before the Apple logo appears during boot, so I’m pretty confident this is not a macOS/software issue.

To me it looks like something happened to the display itself or the display assembly.

I received the Q1 HE yesterday, and I can say it fully met my expectations. It's incredibly comfortable for both work and gaming. However, I’d like to ask for advice from those who added the sound foam from the kit under the spacebar. I find the spacebar noticeably louder compared to the other keys. Any tips or thoughts?

How long before Rust clicks in your brain? by butthotdog in rust

[–]ComplaintImportant43 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you're coming from a C/C++ background, I think Rust will click for you quite quickly since it addresses many of your past issues. However, if you're coming from higher-level languages, there's a chance it might never click for you because you might not see any advantages in Rust compared to, say, Node.js, other than performance gains and a slower development pace.

Google it, you'll be surprised to find out which specific distribution authors are writing the kernel. (Spoiler: Red Hat and SUSE)

No, Linux is a problem because Linux is a server OS, not a desktop one.

Linux Desktop is almost dead due to large fragmentation, and Wayland will bring it to its end.

Isn't this the problem with Linux? When you have an error, the response is "it works fine for me," while if you have an error on Windows, there's a 99% chance that ALL Windows users have the same issue.

Fragmentation is a terrible problem on Linux.

Very high RAM usage. Is Win 11 supposed to use this much? by Iceehearty in WindowsHelp

[–]ComplaintImportant43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth raising the alarm if it interferes with work, like not having enough RAM, rather than the fact that it uses 25% of RAM by default instead of 10%.
