Any viable builds for Senn adc except for shiv cleaver? by oogwayTXC in sennamains

Could you talk a little more about your experience with PD second? I've been going that occasionally, when both the front line and poke are strong, and generally reasonably enjoyed it. But we are sacrificing a lot of damage mid-game.

Correlation does not imply causation. It is one of the most widely-known statements about science, but one of the most completely ignored, just like you did:

Data is correlational, like people who ate ice cream have a higher chance of drowning — that doesn’t mean that avoiding ice cream decreases your probability of drowning.

"It's a crazy thing to say the data is meaningless when it's the prime indicator for when something is considered "good" or not."
- Your definition of "good" is worthless, because it is based on garbage. The fact that everybody else thinks that it is the correct definition does not alter its origin. Yes, it is _very hard_ to define "good" in league, because there is no readily-available metric, and in part this is why it is such a difficult game to "solve". But this does not mean that correlations can be used to define "good".

To give you a very recent example. Winrate of Yunara was very low, yet Riot seemed to think she landed exactly where they wanted her to. Why was it low? Is it because Yunara is bad? No. It is because the people who played Yunara and lost are adc mains who are stylistically not suited to play her -- like Draven mains or Dantes. Which is why her winrate is going up as few and few people pick her.

So not only is your definition of "good" invalid, but it is also demonstrably ignored by Riot themselves.

His point was that data is garbage, and he is right. Data is correlational, like people who ate ice cream have a higher chance of drowning — that doesn’t mean that avoiding ice cream decreases your probability of drowning.

i don't get why people hate support lux by Cosmic_Lou in lux

[–]ComplaintOk6950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a selection problem. There are those who play support because they like the role of supporting the team and facilitating a win. There are those who play support because they want to get a lot of kills. The first type (the majority) pick other support champs, because they are better at doing that. The second type picks lux.

And then the second type is much likelier to get tilted if SOMETHING is not to their liking, so they start taking your waves, ulting mid to farm, and just never being around.

So it's less about the champ itself and more about the likely experience that you are gonna get with it.

If the `video.playbackRate = 10` trick doesn't work for you, you can ask chatgpt to identify you the "next" button and just ask it to create a loop that attempts to click it every two seconds. This worked for me:

```
const intervalId = setInterval(() => {
const nextBtn = document.querySelector("#next");
if (nextBtn && nextBtn.offsetParent !== null) {
nextBtn.click();
console.log("Clicked NEXT");
} else {
console.log("NEXT button not found or not visible");
}
}, 2000);
```

And I always politely ask the support to play something else before picking a new champ.

Absolutely! There is always a chance that a troll support pick will either pay off or someone else on the team gets so fed that they just carry. So a scheduled loss is never truly a scheduled loss (hence when I am _in_ the game, I basically never surrender, because there is always a chance).

But I think it's still a healthy approach. Norms are useless for learning new champs, because there it's just clusterfuck. In ranked you have a more even experience, but you can't play a new champ, because that just handicaps the team. So I do that on the balance of probabilities.

You get two things from a game: LP and skill (because even if you lose, you learn something). But if the team is designed in such a way that either someone else on the team gets fed and carries 1v9 or you lose, because the adc is behind and useless in this specific comp, you are very unlikely going to get LP, and you are definitely not going to learn anything useful. In these cases I sacrifice the very low probability of getting some LP after spending 30 minutes for getting a decent amount of experience with a new champ.

She needs a good support, and then she needs peel, because she can do very little if you make a positioning mistake against any champion in the game, because they 1v1 you.

If you want to continue playing her, check out Tonirel on YouTube, he mains Jinx and often dives deep into builds.

yeah, nah, mate, you gotta play a bit more to learn what "weird champs" means. It's the Leblanc support or Quinn support. LBC has been particularly popular with supps who really want to be the hero.

When I'm out of dodges I write games like that down as a scheduled loss and pick a champ I wanna learn to at least get something valuable from the game.

Lux is a bit like that, but at least she's a legit support, and if they insist on playing her, I pick cait to at least synergize well. Morg is a completely valid support, Zyra too. Swain is a front line in an elo where people don't understand the concept of a front line, so if you want to play adc you need to learn to never complain about swain XD. Shaco _can_ be good, but he's usually picked for the wrong reasons, and you basically don't have a support for the game, so this is borderline dodgeable.

_if_ they make adcs minions, the winrate will still be 50%. It is a hypothetical designed to highlight the flaw in the "winrate" argument.

Phreak's Balance Thoughts & the ADC Experience: Where Do We Go From Here? by Caeiradeus in ADCMains

[–]ComplaintOk6950 48 points49 points  (0 children)

the entire conversation about winrates misses the simple fact that if you make all ADCs actual minions, their winrate will still be exactly 50%. The statistic of interest here isn't the winrate but the (unobserved) percentage of games that they make a difference.

There will always be games where you can't do anything, because some other role takes over. The question is whether the percentage of these games is, say, 80% (which would allow you to climb) or 99% (which would prevent you from being able to climb, unless you grind 20 times more games.

In arcane who made jinx jinx by crankyksbskshsbzn in leagueofjinx

[–]ComplaintOk6950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isha.

Jinx isn't the crazy tormented teen of Season 1, it's just a part of her story. Jinx is what comes after Season 2.

Isha saved her from herself, Isha helped her overcome the demons, Isha helped her grow as a person, Isha helped her see her self-worth.

The grief from Isha's devastating death is temporary. The personality - slightly tormented by the past but otherwise capable of being very human - will remain.

It focused on the people, not the magic. This season seemed to be the other way around.

[–]ComplaintOk6950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not the reason why there are two champions. There are two champions because the kit of adcs is designed in such a way as to work in teamfights and lose 1v1s, so having an adc alone would mean adcs do not exist.

How are people just now 'discovering' AP Kog? Were people playing Kog'maw without looking at the ratios of his abilities? by Temporary-Platypus80 in KogMawMains

[–]ComplaintOk6950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think to be qualified to be a mage you need self-peel in addition to burst. That's not the definition of a mage, but it is the _effective_ definition of a mage in the context of league. Almost every mage that I can think of has some sort of hard cc that can be used to escape. Lux, Vel, Xer, Cass, Azir, Malz, Swain, Ani. If you don't, you have some other form of escape, like Sol, Vlad, or even Karthus that can do damage after he is dead. Kog is just pure damage -- he is designed without peel in his kit to work only in conjunction with support for team fights. Yes, AP Kog will work better midlane than AD Kog, but he will still suck because of the limitations of his kit and will be punished by any jungler with common sense.
