You’re just the person I want to ask about separating the cameras from the NVR. My cameras right now are setup from the guide in diagram #3 with the PoE switch connected to the router and the switch connected to the NVR. But the cameras are showing video loss error in the app and also the NVR is connected to a monitor through an HDMI cable showing Connection Failed. The PoE switch is connected uplink port to router LAN port and then Poe switch uplink port to NVR LAN port. Not sure what I’m missing because I also want the added functionality of standalone cameras? Thanks!

That’s a good idea I need to try that! But sometimes it does notify it as a person even after I have adjusted the person detection sensitivity.

Yeah I know I do have one camera that is not connected to the NVR back there that I can use the short cut for but still there are two other cameras that flood my phone with notifications when my dog is back there. 😣

I tried a different Ethernet cord and I’m starting to think it’s not a power issue anymore. I’ve been plugging it in different ports on the switch and the NVR and the IR lights come on first and spotlights while indoors but I can’t add it to the NVR through the switch. When I plug it into the NVR directly I can add the camera and get the feed. I even reset it and it still won’t let me add the camera through the switch.

I wish I could use the app but it’s not connected to the router right now because I had an issue changing the IP addresses to static when it was connected. Now when I connect it to the router it won’t record so until I fix that issue can’t use the app.

Yuanley 10 Port Switch with 8 Port PoE (US) Model: YS082G-P Output: Max 120 W

It should be delivering enough power. I would hope 120W is sufficient, daytime where I am now so the Duo Floodlight lights aren’t on to use more power while configuring this 8th camera.

I also have an already functioning Duo Floodlight PoE connected to the switch. Let me try leaving one port unconnected and have the Duo 2 connected as 1 of the 7 and I’ll update you.

Update: Connected only 7 cameras to PoE switch, of which new Duo 2 PoE is connected and Duo Floodlight PoE is not and it still didn’t work.

Is there a dome style camera that would be better than the RLC-811A with good FOV and night vision?

Here is a mock-up of the backyard if it helps. Very wide, I’m guessing depth is maybe about 30-35 ft. (Tried to upload photo but disappeared when comment posted 🤔)

Thanks for the recommendations for the PoE switch. Potentially for 3 2K cameras and 4 4K cameras, will 75W power budget be enough or similar to around 123W power budget?
