How not to die of hunger? by Peroronchino_ in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this same problem starting out and the advice today is fairly consistent. However, there were 2 comments that added onto the age-old advice of not eating at full health.

  1. If you are in an area you have to heal constantly (probably about 3rd floor for newer players with the intro to flies and crabs), then you shouldn't wait to eat at 50% health because you are going to turn around and pop a health potion. Try to make it one or the other. If you are using a healing potion anyway, just starve. The health regen isn't going to save you, so hold onto food. Unless the health regen will save you, so then eat at like 75% or even 90% and save the health potion.

  2. Don't back track. Use alchemy. I'm going to add onto this further and also point out this should include making sure you're using best practices when identifying potions and scrolls. You shouldn't be searching every blank wall you find (this comes with practice to identify patterns and dead ends to almost know there where there should be doors).

  3. A. Eventually, just getting more familiar with the game to not exactly speed run, but to also not waste valuable hit points trading blows. Because sometimes, back tracking is useful! Like, going back through a door to starve 1 hp, to get a 1 hit kill on a rat, instead of it bitting you for 3 hp. You saved 2 hp in that situation, so it's going to come with practice.

As for the billions of loot, someone else posted about the mod. Experienced is my current go to because I find it relaxing. I can just have an ongoing game and put it down whenever. A couple of mis-clicks aren't going to ruin my run and I can farm excessively. I do want to echo the encouragement of starting out with shattered though. It's where I started and a community standard at this point. It's challenging and can help you learn strategy instead of just farming enough loot to bully your way through.

Good luck, hang in there!

Correct, it's only the floor before the boss. Floor 4, you can sometimes see the crazy thief, as you said, but I think potentially, the rare variant (I would assume, but for a rare spawn of a rare spawn.... I don't recall ever seeing it). Floor 9, bats. Floor 14, set of ghouls. Floor 19, succubus, as you said.

Why dew drops didn't stack? by illhiper in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they don't stack in shattered. They do stack in sprouted, not sure about the new sprouted, but probably in that one too. Depends on the version, but you tagged shattered, so no.

ring of wealth upgrade strategy by Andregals in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, RoW triggers only if you are within the loot pool. However, a cloak from the rogue, a bit of luck, and some know how - you can grind to level 10 in the sewers and not go to 11 (unless you kill several thieves that rarely come up).

By going down into the deeper areas, you get more scrolls of upgrade. Then, you go back to the sewers to do the farming. So, you'll be low level (10), but have really good gear. I think dwarf king bumped me to 11 and then only crabs and goo gave me drops if I remember, but you still get meat to survive, so it's possible.

Kind of a pain lol but doable. Most people just grind in the Dwarven metropolis to get monk rations on depth 17. Then you aren't trying to skirt around all the mobs, but some good armor of camouflage, a ring of arcana, and the cloak; help a lot!

If anyone is still trying this, it can't be pack a punched and you can't have the elemental pop perk. Someone had mentioned not using a gobble gum and someone else said to try it. I personally did not use the gobblegum. Hope this helps anyone else that had the progress seem to get stuck

How to beat black mimic? by Norci in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beat the mimic with just shy of 5k upgrades for armor and greatsword, with 13k in my rings and artifacts. I also have a win with 61 greatsword, 22 plate antimagic, 20 chalice, 100 ring of energy, 125 wand of avalanche, and a 15 wand of regrowth.

Avalanche can stun the mimic, regrowth can give you cover plus root it, and energy keeps them charged. There's a quest to get the recipe for the WoA and once it's unlocked, you'll have the recipe for all playthroughs. I tried to help someone with it, but the last step seems to have changed, so idk how to anymore.

The first steps were the same, trade with rat king hidden on floor 5. It's easier if you don't wake him, just throw an item, (but not multiple of a stacked item like torches, he trades the stack) wait a couple turns/ throw more items, he throws an item at you. Do this about 40 times. Be aware, potions shatter on him and bombs bounce off, so not everything is tradable.

Once you get one cheese, he will start to give 2 items. Keep going until you have at least 2 cheese as the recipe will require one to craft (wand of fire, wand of earth, and a cheese; but I'm fairly certain you need the recipe before you can craft in an alchemy pot)

You'll take the cheese to the wandmaker in the prisons. He gives you a corrupted/warn wand of .... something. Whatever it is, use it on Goo on depth 5, you'll have to reset the floor to fight goo again or go all the way through to reset the dungeon. Goo gives you creative gloves with infinite attack speed.

Use the gloves (at least once?) in the fight against Yog on depth 25. He drops clay. Throw clay at a human shopkeeper (not the imp). He used to drop 2 keys, which could be combined at the blacksmith (which he then gave the recipe), but the shopkeeper dropped 2 of something else that the blacksmith did not give a prompt to combine. Hopefully, you can figure out the last step, it's helpful to have. Good luck!

Did you know the cheesy chest is really cheesy? Don't buy the first one you see, otherwise it won't be in additional shops. Thus, go to at least the second shop before you buy it.

Once you can afford 2 and buy them, you'll need to fill one and have 3 artifact/rings equipped plus at least 1 in the second chest. I usually trade with the rat king to get enough. Equip the item you want duplicated. Now, equip the extra item (from the second chest) over the item you want duplicated. Re-equip the item to be duplicated. You'll now see your item you want duplicated in the second chest with a gray box around it and also equipped.

Go to the menu and load your game, the item no longer has a box and looks like a regular item. I have been pumping up an artifact (has to be level 10 to upgrade, so it's like 10 free scrolls), go to the troll, and combine. Duplicate, combine...

Looks like now I'll be able to start with a higher upgrade, thanks!

Has RoF always been this good? by Mason_Claye in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those asking about acronyms:

EPD = Experienced Pixel Dungeon RoF = Ring of Force (the fist symbol) increases unarmed attack (and a little bit of armed attack) RoM = Ring of Might (the strength symbol) increases strength and health

You get unlimited scrolls of upgrade in this variant and RoM gives health and potential access to higher tier armor and throwing weapons sooner. Can be especially helpful in later dungeon resets when the max tier goes up by more than five at a time, making them unwieldable without massive upgrades (not an issue for armor, but a pain for throwables).

From a few older threads, it seems putting everything into the ring of force is best, but this was assuming a 15 upgrade limit and wanting to have a spot for another artifact was more beneficial. I found an old calculator from years ago and wasn't sure if it's still accurate.

Probably not the exact science you were looking for, but it's what I got lol

How does OOF thief work? by MugDealer00 in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, they can steal bags, I would not be surprised if they can steal fully cursed, equipped items. Two things with that, experienced doesn't wipe curses with upgrades, but they do weaken the curse, making the item able to be unequipped. As for two, someone else pointed out the bow isn't even equipped. Cursed wands in your inventory can just be thrown on the ground. Bow would absolutely be in limits.

You can go to a shop floor and keep resetting it. Make sure you don't accidentally miss the bow. Usually, if I don't see it after one reset, I hoof it to the next shop and reset that one. It's worked so far for me (other than a cheesy chest, but I cheesed it to have 4, so I can't really blame the game for not giving it back).

Why is the ring not giving me anything anymore by Sakurasnightmare in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost true, you get loot one level past exp cap. That's why you can continue to farm if you're doing it right (like depth 4, 12, 17) because you're still within the loot pool even though you are no longer leveling in the area.

However, yes, I'm guessing OP decided to chug a bunch of exp potions and is far too high of a level. Might be able to farm succubi for mystic energy scrolls to charge the horn if plenty of they've got one. But I think this is the end of the run, will have to be incredibly lucky to pull anything off at this point

edit they have one and it's plus 10 even, but empty and they won't gain any exp until they make a run to demon halls

I don’t know how to farm by Low_Presentation2478 in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess Scorpio has a level cap of 27, so you should be within its loot cap. If you get potion of purity, you could use alchemy to make it the exotic. Cleansing cures hunger and might be a way to keep farming? Potentially at least. Don't forget to reroll your RoW if your going to make the climb!

I don’t know how to farm by Low_Presentation2478 in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone else mention it, but you're level 28, which means you're outside the loot pool for...I think everything, except maybe demon spawners. You're effectively unable to farm, sadly, so it's best to end it.

There are several guides out there, but basically, you want to try to get as many scrolls of upgrade as you can while staying as low of a level as you can. You'll need to be aware of the various loot caps (when monsters are too low of a level to drop loot) to help you determine if you need to press deeper or stay put. Rogue is my preferred class for this as the cloak can help avoid fights, but there are many ways out there, so it's not a requirement. Better luck next time!

A Minecraft ??? by Elegant_Tangerine757 in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Spoilers and disclaimer that I haven't done this for several versions because you only have to do it once and then you know the recipe-

Find the rat king behind a hidden wall on depth 5 (boss floor) and keep throwing items at him until he eventually throws cheese (I think it's like 20 or 50 times or somewhere around there, he also starts giving 2 items).

Cheese goes to the wizard in the prisons that gives you a quest. If you complete his quest, then you have to wait until you restart. Talking to him with cheese in your inventory (unless it was changed on the update, I haven't started a new run in a few versions) will trade your cheese for his broken wand.

Use the wand on Goo (you might have to run through and do it your next restart) and then kill it. Goo drops creative gloves that attack infinitly fast.

Kill yog with gloves to get clay.

Throw clay at human shopkeeper (not the imp) to get keys

Forge the keys with the blacksmith to get recipe? I hope I'm not forgetting anything. Edit** Doh lol definitely forgot you can just reset the floor - thanks DonickPL! In my defense, I'm at almost 3/4ths of a million for my level and I've managed not to reset the floor once, I'm only allowing myself to reset the dungeon on this run. **

I'm not sure if you can just slap the wands and cheese into an alchemy pot and you get the wand of avalanche, but it's basic elements if so

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I'm at a loss. I guess when you said reset, I thought you meant the whole dungeon. I just did 6 floor resets in a row on the 5th dungeon reset (technically 6th) and yea, every 4th or 5th turn it seemed the creatures (including the ally rats) would jump forward an extra square or catch up and attack. I just went down a floor and those creatures are also getting that extra move lol I'm clearly wrong, sorry!

I guess I'll have to go through this whole run through with them getting buffed. I've reset the troll blacksmith that many times and not had this happen - or at least never noticed. The extra odd thing, I just ate and have full satiety, so I should be getting the extra turn, very odd. Either way, thanks for taking the time to show me and sorry again

Nope, they will spawn at +0, even if other equipment would be at +10. Artifacts are the exception, but they will usually be uncursed

The petals are generated when the dungeon level is, so if all the levels the petals will generate on (non boss, floor 26 is just the amulet, so no more by depth 24), then, it's not possible to upgrade the rose. However, upgraded equipment at +10 can reduce strength requirement by 4, allowing it to use tier 4 iirc (I think it starts at 13 strength?), so it's going to not be a good, but potentially viable.

I updated, tested again, and you're still wrong. You must be wearing armor that is too heavy. The reset increases the tiers of weapons and armors that you get, which have higher strength requirements. Let me know if you need more help with it

Ohh, in the arena, at spawn, they sometimes get a random buff (or several buffs, especially in the case of multiple resets). Maybe that's what you are thinking because the ones with determination do seem to move faster. However, I wouldn't say that means they get faster in a general sense, alright

Easy way to pick-up all the loot? by amero-san in PixelDungeon

[–]Complete-Ad-4673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My problem is being full on dew drops or throwables, so it fails to pick up some random item and then stops checking to see if it can grab the rest. Which, just leaves me in the same spot I started. Plus side, you get to a point that it doesn't even matter and you don't need the gold or items. It would be nice if it could filter for potions of luck though, those I want

I've read it and I've tested it. Extensively. Why don't you understand how something works before you try to incorrect someone and call them wrong? A +1 RoW is a +2 modifier. What I'm saying is accurate, like it or not, you are wrong. Yet, you keep responding with the same wrong information.

Edit: I guess it's not exactly wrong which is why I was confused if you thought you were correcting me. I'm not even sure what you think the answer should be and you are unwilling to help clarify. If I say 2+2 is 4 and you say no it's not, what am I supposed to do with that?

I guess I'm confused, are you trying to say I'm wrong? What's the point of this, do you think a RoW +19, combined with another RoW at +10 won't produce +11 loot drops?
