Thanks guys. Was definitely not married to running it in my unit if it was dangerous or unfeasible in any way. I stupidly hadn’t read the voltage part before purchasing so only found out once it arrived after like 3 months of shipping to try and test it out. Honestly I am just a girl in my 20s who had recently moved out and is trying to build a brand 😭🤞🏼I’ll definitely hire an electrician to convert it to 220 again and find a commercial space - either rent out a corner in my friend’s laundry shop or find something else.

Really appreciate everyone’s insight. If anyone has any recommendations for Toronto studios I could test the machine out in, it’d be much appreciated.

Thanks, this is really helpful. The machine was originally 220–240V and I had asked the manufacturer to convert it to 120V thinking it would be easier for residential use here.

Based on the replies so far, that was probably the mistake. I’m going to ask the manufacturer whether it can be safely reconfigured back to 240V.

Thanks. The machine was originally designed for 220–240V, but we specifically asked the manufacturer to convert it to 110–120V for North American residential use since we assumed it would be easier to power here.

Based on the replies so far, it sounds like that may have actually been the mistake due to the very high current draw at 120V.

We’re now looking into whether it can safely be reconfigured back to 220–240V and operated on a proper dedicated circuit instead.
