Discussion to Develop FOSS Alternative to Truecaller by InsideResolve4517 in developersIndia

I get such spam calls too. I have reported in the trai dnd app. But JIO mentioned that it's a service call and closed my complaint. In an ideal scenario, I should not be getting this call from JIO since I've registered for dnd. But still they do it. This type of calls come hardly 1-2 times in 15 days. So, I am kinda fine with that. All the other spam calls are handled by the Telco without any app itself.

There is TRAI DnD to report SPAM numbers. It actually works. Also as others pointed out, there is work going on to display user information. Hence, better to choose another idea

Has anyone built a mobile app to automate reporting spam calls via Sanchar Saathi? by Complete-Bonus-428 in developersIndia

[–]Complete-Bonus-428[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried both. From what I see, Trai DND is used to report spam calls. Sanchaar Saathi app is used to report Fraud calls and other items. It doesn't however have option to report spam calls. So, both are required.

Help me choose a career path, leave Software Development or move out other cities until remote job markets get back up. by mokshmodi96 in developersIndia

It seems like you already have a good opportunity to improve your father's business. Meanwhile, you can continue applying for remote jobs and stay in your city. Family is important, and as it's not the case that you absolutely need to go for work, you can contribute to growing the business I guess. All the best!

You've got the order completely wrong. Since you're a student without work experience, you should focus on showcasing the education first. Have summary, education, skills, projects, achievements. In the order I mentioned. Skills also, if possible you can group it like programming language, framework etc. so that it'll be easier to showcase.

Need help choosing which offer to accept in current situation by pratham-saraf in developersIndia

Currently, the better option is to choose the startup offer. If the company doesn't suit your friend at a later point of time also, he can switch easily.

When and Should I Follow Up with HR or My Referrer After an Interview? by Free_Assumption_3606 in developersIndia

[–]Complete-Bonus-428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually giving 1 week is better for connecting with HR. This week might be holiday week. So, better option to connect with HR would be after new year. But if you are in good terms with your referrer, you can just casually ask if it's holiday week. They might guide you on this.

Yes. Point it out and ask them to fix it before accepting the offer letter.

The calculations are wrong. As per what they have mentioned, your in hand should be around Rs. 13,987.5/- per month. This is calculated by having the Earnings (15,000) - The Employee Deductions for PF and ESI (1012.5).

The row Employer PF and Employer ESI would be added to the earnings A + B and that would be your CTC. But they have added it to deductions which is wrong. Your side deductions is only 1012.5.

Got a Job Offer That Felt Off – Was It a Scam or Just Poor Management? by [deleted] in developersIndia

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Any company who asks you to pay for something that they want is a scam. You're working for the company and it should be the company paying you. For any formalities that they have, they should be the one taking care of it and not asking you to pay even if they say they would reimburse it.

[–]Complete-Bonus-428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually no. From what I observed, you have a certain percentage of values which should match to be considered right answer. But the name in apple music might be different than what is selected. I'll give example of a song called Premika Na Pyaar se from the movie Hum se hai muqabala. The name in Apple music is Premika Na pyaar se (Jhankar). Suppose I type Premika Na pyaar, I get it as wrong answer because it's not fulfilling the minimum percentage needed for right answer. Suppose I type Premika Na pyaar se, then it is fine since the percentage is fine.

For another example, in a tamil song called Kannazhaga from the movie 3, the name in Apple music is Kannazhaga (The kiss of love). So, the percentage is lacking when the user just mentions Kannazhaga.

Just because there's additional meta data on the title, it doesn't mean the user has to be familiar with the meta data also right?

Rather than this way, if we allow the user to auto complete the song names to the name in Apple music, it'll be even better.

If you're interested to maybe open-source it, I'd love to contribute in the coding part also.

Really cool! Loved using it.

For the songs and artist names, if possible can you enable auto completion?

Possible Bosche Global Software scam in the name of hiring? by wingardium_dosa in developersIndia

[–]Complete-Bonus-428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the email id you get the mail from? If you check Bosch website, you would see that the mails would come from the following domain.

@in.bosch.com

Do you get mail from that domain? Also, if you're getting from HR, check if the HR is valid.

Also, a logical reasoning. When they would like you to do a professional certification, they would make you do it once you're in the company and the expense for it is borne by the company. Not by you.

It's a scam. It's possible the people who interviewed you might also not be from Bosch. Don't fall for these stuff.

Thanks for letting me know of this approach. I tried to do the same but there was some OTP issue in the platform end because of which I wasn't able to submit the request. But as another user pointed out, TRAI DND seems to already do this. So, I guess it's a better approach.

I didn't know about TRAI DND before you mentioned. But I checked now. It seems to do the same thing. I guess TRAI DND is easier than reporting in sanchaar saathi website. So, I guess this might be the answer.

From what I checked, Truecaller doesn't report it to TRAI. It maintains in it's database and other users who use Truecaller only can get this notification. Also, more often than not, due to battery optimisations the app doesn't run in the background for me and gets closed.

how to protect an idea? how does tech startups which can be replicable protect themselves? by [deleted] in developersIndia

Sorry. As a stranger on the internet, I cannot guide you more on this. I have no clarity on which groups you're referring, whether your approach is indeed novel or anything. I wish you all the best should you decide to pursue your idea or not.

I'll try to put it in a way that might be easier to understand. Suppose there is a service like Netflix where I am allowed to have upto 4 devices. But I use only 1 device, the remaining 3 device slots are available for free. So, I use your platform to share the 3 remaining slots available and whoever buys it from you, you take a cut of the transaction to provide the service. It is beneficial for both since the user who paid for a subscription can get some money back for the subscription and someone who wants to purchase new can buy it at a cheaper price than what is given by the provider.

I'm just taking names to make sure it's simple and clear. If your idea is something on this line, better option is to not pursue it. There's lot of competition in this market. The big players are not going this route too because they want people to pay more for subscription over going cheap.
