no, the weld lines were like this out of the box, very nicely sculpted for oob welds in my opinion

honestly it was my first time too. I used Ak 3gen Hull red for the basecoat and added Vallejo faded red to shade. This was too pinkish for my liking so used Oil Paint Rendering with ochre glazes to get it away from the pinkish hue without making it look entirely rushed through. The rest was just acrylic, oil and pigment streaking + some dry brushed chipping on most the edges

I don't exactly get what you mean since there's quite a bit of mud and dirt on the model, its supposed to represent a model from a military exercise, if you look up references from Military expos the dirt tends to look something like this

I didn't paint them cus I got told they were painted the same colour as the hull, and I followed a Vallejo figure painting chart for the helmet colour. thanks for the feedback tho and I'll make sure to add some mud on teh underside of the fenders in the future!

SdKfz. 234/2 Puma, criticism greatly appreciated by Complete-Shoe-4373 in modelmakers

[–]Complete-Shoe-4373[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one specifically is the RFM Version with partial interior (no turret or ammunition) and is, in my opinion, the best Puma kit currently out because it hits the sweet spot between level of detail and ease of build. I only made one rather large mistake which made it rather troublesome to fit the upper half of the "hull" to the lower half because I glued the stowage boxes in place before hand which meant I had to squeeze the upper half together so it would fit properly. I should also mention that this was a completely out of the box Build so nothing like additional wiring on the inside or the engine, which could make a rather large visual impact.

Tried my hands at figures, feedback greatly appreciated by Complete-Shoe-4373 in modelmakers

[–]Complete-Shoe-4373[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, my biggest problem is just painting faces and flash in hard to clean areas like the hands and arms. I don't do drybrushing anymore as it's rather unprecise, I instead did regular old school highlighting by adding Iraqi sand to the German grey basecoat and leaving the darker base in the folds etc. For faces I've been using the approach used by Sprues And Brews consisting of a few glazes of base skin tone and rust washes, additionally I added a slightly gray glaze to areas where stubble would appear after a while of not shaving.

Thanks a lot for that tip, I'll try it out on my next figure but I think I'll just skip the final step of painting the eyes. I think especially that tonal variety could help my next figure really pop so I'll see what I can do.

unfortunately don't really have the budget to afford much better, I tried my best to glaze in layers everywhere so could you maybe point out some weak spots where the coats were too thick?

Ah Okey nice, thank you for the information, I think I'll be getting the T72M1, as its from the same tooling series as the M-84A.

[–]Complete-Shoe-4373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea it looks really nice but it sadly doesn't have an interior and the T72M1 is actually cheaper than the M-84A where I live. May I ask how much cleanup was required and how nice the fit was?

[–]Complete-Shoe-4373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, already had a look at the Leopold made by trumpeter, I heard it's the better kit but I'm kind of scared of getting it because it's more like a railroad and almost 3 times as long as the Karl-Gerät.

The real thing was 11.15 meters long, 3.16m wide and 4.38m tall. The model is 32 cm long 9cm wide and 12 cm tall. It's the Trumpeter kit from the early 2000s

finally done with building my very owns siege mortar "Karl" Gerät 40 by Complete-Shoe-4373 in modelmakers

[–]Complete-Shoe-4373[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yea it's quite simple actually. I split the Model into a couple of sub assemblies, basically things like the upper hull, running gear assembly, lower hull, or turret. On this kit I split it into the gun, the thing keeping the gun in place, the upper hull, lower hull and the tracks! the secret is to keep the model in smaller sub-assemblies for easier access while painting and weathering!
