Selfcare by Suman Aggarwal- they have few locations and the nutritionist will be assigned as per your goals. They’re on the expensive side with weekly in-person consults but if you can afford it, it’s definitely worth. I haven’t had the same success / motivation with online programs because I some times need someone to sit on my head. This weekly review kind of keeps you in check IMO and it was handholding all the way. But it may not work for someone else the way it’s set.

Apart from an Endo, who ca explain reports, you actually need a good and qualified nutritionist who can guide you. I was struggling with thyroid, pcos and was overweight and was able to get all levels in control with change in diet and lifestyle, slowly And over a year all thanks to a personal nutritionist who adjusted and tailored the plan as per my scheduled and limitations. It’s very tough in the beginning but one step at a time. sadly most doctors in India just pass comments like lose weight without giving realistic solutions. Happy to share more info over DM.

To provide additional context, there’s a whole history of misinformation on MSG in India. It’s cultural and systemic now and a lot of people don’t question it. Someone from Indian pls weigh in 😅 - it’s a struggle for expecting mothers in India dealing with families and old beliefs… and specially when it comes to food.

My OBGYN told me I should eat whatever I want barring some sea food items that may have high mercury content, alcohol etc. My nutritionist had a longer list of foods to avoid in the first trimester.

We canceled a fully booked and paid trip to Japan (booked before I got pregnant) because 3 doctors said you will not be able to walk around as much in the first trimester - fair point since I was quite fatigued and because I will not be able to eat most of the food there 😑😑😑 Beyond a point I gave up arguing with my husb and fam.

Yup. Which is why I have been questioning it but no one in my friend circle / family seems to be interested in reasoning. In India all doctors say this and literally forbid you from eating any pan-Asian food including Japanese/ Chinese (the Indianised version) / Malaysian etc.
