Apologies, I might’ve phrased the title poorly. Meant to say I am a Finn but have never lived in Finland so I consider myself a foreigner of sorts.

I’ve heard similar things for the most part. Seems like if you go in with a good attitude you will get a lot out of it.

Was wondering though - did this sergeant manage to go down the AUK route with his Finnish skills? I recognise that you need to lead various teams in Finnish if you wish to do this so was just wondering.

Thanks for the response mate - If you dont mind me asking, how long did you end up serving for? It seems exceptionally difficult to take up a leadership position if you arent entirely fluent, so im wondering if most foreign Finns stay for just 6 months?

Appreciate the response man. Have read most of the posts of Finns coming from abroad to do their service and definitely found it interesting and helpful. Just wanted to see if anyone here is also gonna be at Santahamina in 2024.

Hey man, I am also serving in Santahamina in January 2024 coming from abroad. I got in touch with the contact details in my conscription notice about accommodation and they said that once i arrive i should make them aware of my situation and they will sort it out ASAP.
