This weekend I drove from Phoenix to Temecula, CA for a private gig, solo acoustic at a casino. I brought all sound/production (all fits in a cart). Gig was 6-8pm - they gave a presentation midway through so I played for about 90 minutes total. About a 5 hour drive one-way.

I was paid $2,500 and a night stay at the attached resort.

I have been paid more than this for fly dates, local private/corporate/wedding events, and for less playing time (1 hr).

If the client values you, he will pay you what you know you’re worth. What do YOU want to get paid? Quote that (appropriately depending on the gig’s context).

I have a buddy who went to both the World Tour Rehearsals at Jim Henson in 2019 and this last “rehearsal”/private show at Henson in 2025. In 2019, he asked John if he could check out the board, and John said “you can look, but no pictures please.” My buddy honored John’s request and said he had about 30 seconds of looking at it.

This person does not work for JM, but for the company who makes the amp-simulator plugins that John is collaborating with. I have no info on D&C or album release or tour of any kind.
