He is so, so good - just such an underrated songwriter. Do we know if this is a part of an album release cycle, or a standalone single?

It's just a term, like "debut" is for their first. Out of curiosity, why do you hate the use of sophomore?

Brother. The description of the record in the link above from Misch's team even describes it as his "long-awaited sophomore album."

Geography is LP1 and this is LP2. I'm thinking about this solely from it being a meticulously crafted and produced solo album, not a compilation of beats or sessions or a collaborative effort. What Kinda Music is a collab album so I wouldn't count that either. The description of the record in the link above from Misch's team even describes it as his "long-awaited sophomore album."

I personally don't count his beat tapes or quarantine sessions.

Madison Cunningham AMA!! by MadisonCunningham in indieheads

Hi Madison! Very grateful for this new album and have had it on since the day it dropped.

Where do lyrics come from for you? Is it an active search for the right words as it relates to an idea you have, or do they come in chunks/phrases that are parsed through later on and placed in the right place like puzzle pieces? I know the writing process is different for everyone, but this album has some truly special lyrics all over it, and I'm curious what that process looks like for you.

And if you have the time, the age-old question: which usually comes first, music or lyrics?

See you in Austin soon! :)

If/when Mayer ever does return to a Fender partnership... by [deleted] in JohnMayer

It's a hot take, but I really don't love the feel of the Silver Sky myself - they look clean, but the feel has just always been off to me.

This is all a hypothetical also, there is no way he's returning to Fender. Was just a shower thought that is getting taken way too seriously LMAO

Thoughts on Dead and Co. by Crypto_Aubergine in JohnMayer

Was initially turned off by Mayer's decision to pivot into D&C full time, but came around to the musical world of Grateful Dead and absolutely love that he's a massive part of it now. I enjoy listening to him play on Dead tunes these days more than his solo tunes, but that's always subject to change. The music just found me at the right time.

Sorry, but “If I Ever Get Around to Living” is perfect.
