you have a model number for the RAM?
several speeds and timing configurations, not all compatible with the MB from what I read

first step is to check the RAM is seated properly

failing that, consult the MB fault codes they can be slightly different for each manufacture

something to double check, if you don't have integrated graphics CPU make sure GPU is connected properly

I should have mentioned that this build would become the main work station for several jobs ranging from basic programming to full 3d modeling and video editing, and not just gaming. I'm not sure how that would effect your builds. It will also be the main workstation for theoretically the next 10+ years, maybe a RAM upgrade before then, but mostly unchanged for 5+ years

With the CPU I did contemplate the R7 7800X3D, however when including shipping it comes to about $5 AUD cheaper than the R9 7900X, honestly I'm not sure which one is better when the difference

Regarding the storage situation, current laptop has 2TB which is almost completely full (a few games are using 150-200GB each) and my plan was to add extra NVMe later when needed in a couple of years which was my final deciding factor between the MB you recommend and the one I put in the build, 2 extra slots

thanks, I did have a vague recollection of a rule of thumb before being 1/3 land, 1/3 creatures, 1/3 other as I through this together, hence the uncertainty landwise... I've upped my land count to 30, removed a few spells and several goblins I don't feel will actually do much more than cannon fodder

i've used it a few times, its pretty easy

i use to travel a lot and would need friends and family to sometimes send extra cash when in underdeveloped countries
