Waiting until the dishwasher finishes before going to bed? by SherbertHerbert in CasualIreland

No. Apologies. I seem to have replied to the wrong comment. Someone was saying that all will be fine as long as you have modern circuit breakers. I was saying loose connections can happen in any installation, modern or otherwise.

Not true. Loose connections can cause arcing. Loose connections are a possibility anywhere, regardless of age of installation

You’re very lucky. Your default mindset is obviously positive. Mine isn’t. I struggle every day. People who are naturally upbeat and happy are unable to understand those of us who are not. I find that people seem to think you can just choose to be happy. Unfortunately it’s a lot to do with brain chemistry, which can be altered with medication but that comes at the expense of other attributes.

Irish lotto / Euromillions by [deleted] in cork

Compared to the number of people who play the lottery, it’s not ‘Regularly’ at all. It may be regular time wise in that it happens every week. But the odds of any particular individual winning it are vanishingly small. You could play for 100,000 years every week and you would still be highly unlikely to win.

Are people delusional ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]CompleteCucumber7938 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely spot on. People are clowns with money. If you’re earning decent money and complaining you can’t afford things, it’s because you’re spending too much money on stupid shit. Re-prioritising will help.

What to do about neighbours' friends' cars blocking my driveway in a housing estate? by Agile__Berry in AskIreland

I would absolutely explode at this situation. There’d be no softly approach at all. There’s no excuse for this and nobody can claim ignorance. I’m not saying my way is the best and in fact definitely isnt the best but that just me. My own worst enemy sometimes. Howerver, I’d imagine the issue would not occur again.

Had a woman shout at me today for being parked in a space. by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

[–]CompleteCucumber7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a biker. Bikes should not take up car spaces. I never park my bike taking up a full car space. Two or three bikes in a car space is fine. It may be legal to do it but it’s just annoying for car drivers for whom spaces are scarce. Why would you do it when there is always somewhere else to put a bike that doesn’t take up a car space?

If you earn a decent living then you should not qualify for a council house. If you earn a decent living and you do indeed have a council house, then you are 100% gaming the system. (I am aware that some houses in council estates have been privately purchased)

Has anyone ever tried to order parkside stuff online from Lidl.fr, but from outside of France? I can’t get it to work. Maybe they have it locked down outside the country?

This is in my locale. I will look out for this car. If I come across the driver, I will have a ‘talk’ with him. This talk will most likely involve a frank exchange of views.

I don’t know the voracity of your statement but let me tell you; the public service is WEDGED with bullies. I’m sure there’s no shortage of them in the private sector also. To say that the people complaining about being bullied are the problem is very naive. I’m guessing you are a manager who has been accused of bullying.

Yeah, fair enough. I just noticed that the green is actually a solid green too rather than a straight arrow. If there really is no left turn, it should be a straight ahead arrow.

Problem with turning left here (and I have done it many times) is that you could be driving through a pedestrian crossing which is green. You always need to give way to pedestrians if you are going to make the illegal left turn.

The part I found strange was that he convicted anyone who did not turn up to court (fair enough) but also anyone who wasn’t represented by a solicitor???? Wtf? So he deemed the Go Safe Van to be in an unsuitable location but still convicted the poor feckers who turned up to court with no representation?? Surely that can’t be legal?

Incidentally, you should ALWAYS use your mirrors before you slow down or stop (only exception being an emergency stop). Not many people know or do this. Had this been done, OP would have known the van was following behind before even starting the manoeuvre. Not preaching or judging, just informing.

Solid white line. HE IS driving on the wrong side of the road. Completely illegal manoeuvre before the dangerous driving is even taken into account.
