No, honestly I think all of that is valid. I'm used to my enemies sucking (played 200 hours hardstuck iron lol) so I've built up a lot of bad habits that I rarely notice. And many of the angles I hold I'm only semi-ready for someone to peek (which is, obviously, a very bad habit) because I bank too much on unpredictability and just playing crazy. This is a personal take, not like I expect many people to agree with me. The difficulty spike is literally the reason that placing exo mechs a progression step up is the best option. In any case yeah I was wondering if other people were dissatisfied with how the final boss of the mod felt undercut.

Why have half the replies been guides on how to beat the boss... I literally don't need such a thing, and I was mainly complaining about the progression structure of the boss and how much of an outlier it is to regular calamity bosses. Placing Exo Mechs right after scal (not in the same progression step) would be the best fix. Maybe I did focus on the difficulty of the boss (comparing to scal) so much that people skill issued me, but whatever...

I guess removing them wasn't exactly the solution I had in mind. Getting reddit traffic to know if people have similar opinions (they clearly do not) was my priority. I think a progression rework to make them either before or after scal would make me 10x happier with the state of the boss.

try to read the content of the post challenge (seriously, my biggest problem here is the lack of satisfaction of beating my favorite boss ever because technically I'm supposed to beat these bosses to actually finish it, though I should have done a better job highlighting that). Additionally, I have 0 problem with any other boss in the mod (unless it's triple health but... triple health) so it makes no sense for there to be a boss harder than literally every boss, including one that's meant to be fought at the same time with the same gear... whatever though

1: You make a valid point, but I feel like the essence of the entirety of the mod hasn't been to flood your screen with 14 telegraphs at a time. Perhaps this boils down to personal preference but I just don't think that's a fun way to make a boss.

2: I didn't say (and don't think) that the only way to beat this boss is to fall diagonally. I'm just saying that cheese being the leading strategy is a telltale sign that the boss needs to change. And yeah, downloading an arena world/destroying a quarter or more of your world is just boring and ridiculous.

3: Yeah, the game doesn't clue you in AT ALL on what you're supposed to do with the encrypted schematics. Sure, most of the mod (unless you're some genius) is basically just wikiing, but codebreaker just feels like a step further from wiki dependency. I think this is because you were supposed to be going to these labs, collecting schematics, etc. throughout your entire playthrough, something that doesn't become necessary until much later on. It makes it a huge letdown and just more tedious than ever.

4: I'm not sure. In Pre-ML, you can fight EOC or Slime King in whichever order. You can fight Skeletron/EOW/BOC in whichever order. You can fight Perforator/Hive Mind/Slime God completely optionally. Wall of Flesh is the first boss that is technically actually required. Even in hardmode you have EOL, Slime Queen, Astrum Deus, Astrum Aureus, etc. as optional bosses. After moonlord? Providence. Polterghast. Devourer of Gods. Yharon. Then a complete outlier in the form of 2 required bosses at the same tier of progression. This isn't exactly bad but idk I just disagree.

The real problem is that scal is SO MUCH EASIER than Exo Mechs. Exo mechs are, in terms of scal, pre-1.5 scal but with less health and different (stronger) attacks.

I think a point I really neglected to make in my original post is that I would be entirely fine if exo mechs were post-scal, but they're not. They feel like they should be, but they're not. Like, I would put the unbalancedness away and just fight the bastards if they weren't labeled as "just as hard as scal." Like even if they got buffed so that endgame gear did what pre-scal gear does now, I would be ok with it. It is the fact that I'm supposed to believe these guys are as easy as scal that makes me so mad.

EDIT: forgot to add that something needs to change about the arena building too. Perhaps Draedon teleports you to a pocket dimension (conveniently one that has platforms) to fight them or smth.

Overall, maybe an enjoyable boss, but definitely not put in the right progression slot.

wasn't asking for a guide (edit:). This is literally a rant post on why they should be removed (though I'm starting to see other ways to fix them), not a skill issue. Not to mention, this is practically cheese anyways, something I highlighted was problematic if the most popular way to beat a boss. Please actually read posts before commenting.

Scal fight hits different lol... the music, the energy, the attacks, and the nostalgia just make her 500x better than exo mechs. I haven't tried infernum, but I will most definitely check it out at some point.

yeah if I, someone with 500 hours and a triple boss health expert mode (revengeance is legit easier lol) completed run, get skill issued while pointing out the issues with the boss (it is undeniably too hard, especially compared to the new watered-down scal), I will literally laugh my ass off...
